aaand BOOM goes the dynamite. (Modern MTG Deck)

8Whack Goblins! Small variations are listed from the traditional "all-out-budget" list, but even in it's cheapest form, this deck can still beat Tier 1 decks. I've stuck to my UW Control in Modern since Modern was created, but the aggro meta is toooooo much for me (03/2017). After going 0-3 and dropping from the last several FNMs (thanks to Eldrazi, Cavern of Souls, and Death's Shadow), I decided to pick up an easy-to-build aggro. I used my spare legacy Goblin cards (too bad there's no Brightstone Ritual or Goblin War Strike in Modern) but nevertheless -- this deck can consistently swing for 10 on turn 3. Happy Whacking.

The basic idea (if you're not familiar) is to use the RIDICULOUS synergy between the 8 "whack" effects (Goblin Bushwhacker and Reckless Bushwhacker) and the Legion Loyalist battalion effect. Additional key tactics include using Mogg Fanatic to block/sac or else take out pesky Birds of Paradise, Noble Hierarch, etc.. abusing Mogg War Marshal + Foundry Street Denizen, and potentially beating in with HUGE Goblin Piledrivers. A turn 1 Foundry Street Denizen is the best opening you can have. Slam dat.

This deck has few matchups that are extremely poor, though Ensnaring Bridge and Abzan decks in general are your worst fears (as well as Tron players completing their land sets). I've also found that playing against the "8Tree" G/R deck is also difficult, as those players utilize their mana advantage as well as playing 8 Burning-Tree Emissary effects.

The route to victory lies in flooding the field and wisely using perhaps the greatest burn spell in MtG -- Goblin Grenade. Comments welcome!
