I tested/played new cards for so long that I forgot to update this list...

Authority of the Consuls replaces Soul Warden. It doesn't give me life when a creature enters on my side, but it is less suspectible to removal.

Angel's Trumpet replaces Massacre Wurm. This one was hard. Massacre Wurm was one of the cards that caused this deck to exist and it is a great finisher. But it costs too much. Mostly, it came down around turn 9 or 10, and that's too slow. When Ghostly Prison is out, Angel's Trumpet deals quite a lot of damage to my opponent each turn, which leads to me winning faster.

I'm currently thinking about replacing Suture Priest with Trespasser's Curse, because it is an enchantment and gives me much more life. The problem is that it would turn this deck into a strict duel deck, as the Curse affects only one player... Thoughts?

i like the idea of your deck :D. i cant think of many ways to improve it. maybe Falkenrath Noble so you can have more Blood Artist ?

@Frayace: Thought about it, but it is too expensive mana wise. It gets killed as fast as Blood Artist and I don't need its body, because I can't block with it either (without it dying).

@VampireArmy: Great idea! Will definitely think about it. What should I cut for it?

Blood Seeker would help.

@wcdorrell: Had him in in an earlier version. Problem is, Suture Priest is better and I cut him for more Hunted Phantasm and Varchild's War-Riders to put tokens into play more consistently.

Hunted Horror is a pretty strong dude. although he gives them 3/3s, i feel you have enough defense to counteract it(:

Crawlspace and / or Silent Arbiter are other great defense mechanisms

and btw, i love this concept. if you have seen my decks, I am a concept deck kinda guy. i appreciate your deck. these are the kind of decks that make deck building so goddam fun :D

last note, i noticed MOST of the tokens you create are red tokens. have you considered a card like Auriok Champion ? gain you the life like the others, plus has protection from them.

hyperlocke says... #10

@Dreno33: Making sure my opponent can't attack me is a crucial part of this deck because in most cases I don't want to block with my creatures. If all else fails, the tokens need to die to Zealous Persecution , so Hunted Horror is out. On the other hand, Crawlspace is great.

I'm not really sure about Auriok Champion , will try it.

Thanks for your suggestions!

i have a very similar deck to this and i have some good suggestions:

Mercy Killing can do a shitload of damage and fits perfectly with this. It is a better option over Hunted Phantasm because it doesn't involve having a 4th color.

Illness in the Ranks is pretty nice because it is continuous, but that is a matter of preference I guess.

You should have at least 2 or 3 Blood Seeker in here. They are strictly worse than Suture Priest and Blood Artist but are nice anyway.

I have some Immortal Servitude to bring back a bunch of people, which is really nice because by deck also has Wall of Omens and Tidehollow Sculler . Unearth is another option.

Infernal Tutor is great because having as many Forbidden Orchard and Suture Priest as possible is great.

Pendelhaven and AEther Vial are things to consider also.

@demongod: Thanks for your suggestions!

Mercy Killing is great! Though I suppose it will replace Crib Swap rather than Hunted Phantasm . True, sometimes the second blue mana source is nowhere to be found, but 4 unblockable damage are nice.

Illness in the Ranks : No, I want them to die when I control Blood Artist , not as soon as they enter the field.

Blood Seeker : No. As stated above, I cut him to put tokens into play more consistently. I could take him in over Ghostly Prison to make the deck more aggressive, but I like this defensive style.

Because of the large defensive part of the deck, there's not much room for things like recursion and tutors. If I don't draw Forbidden Orchard and Suture Priest right away or if they get removed, Ghostly Prison & Co. give me time to get to them. Or I kill them with Hunted Phantasm .

Pendelhaven : Normally, I don't block with my creatures because I get lots of life from Soul Warden . If I get into a situation where I have to block, I doubt +1/+2 will make a difference. If you play a burn or ping deck, I'm fucked anyway.

AEther Vial ; Well, I can't complain about not being able to cast my stuff, so no.

Nice deck! I have a more offensive WBG one Killing My Tokens Softly, but you've inspired me to make a defensive WBU Orchard deck.

My suggestions:

Soul's Attendant is strictly better than Soul Warden , as there are times where you don't want to gain life (e.g. Rain of Gore , False Cure , Punishing Fire ).

Killing Wave is cheap and effective, and lets you kill tokens or even creatures on your own side for a little extra damage from Blood Artist .

I would personally run Dispel and/or Turn Aside to protect my permanents against a combo-breaker.

Dovescape is a hilarious lock, but is even more useful when you can kill the tokens it makes on your side.

For a silly alternate win condition with a punch, Quest for the Gravelord or Skirsdag High Priest if something happens to your Blood Artist and Suture Priest !

Mutilate !!!!!!

hyperlocke says... #17

@ryanjoha: No.Even with 1 Swamp all my important creatures die, too. Zealous Persecution is much better in here. Thanks for the suggestion!

April 3, 2014 11:50 a.m.

it's more as a finisher, even if your creatures die, if you have like 2 Blood Artist s out, and there is 8 other creatures on the field, which wouldn't be uncommon, you would Mutilate , and instantly win. My friend had a mono-black vampire deck that used this as one of her win-cons, it was her fastest win con. I guess it's fine if you don't wanna put it in, i just find it would be good for the deck :)

Wow, very original deck idea, I like it! +1 from me sir.

I'd suggest running 4x Zealous Persecution . Because the 1/1's that you give your opponents can get out of hand if you don't have at least 1 Ghostly Prison on the battlefield.

April 3, 2014 noon

hyperlocke says... #20

@ryanjoha: Well, I will try running it as finisher over Mogg Infestation . Will report back if I remember :)

@Saljen: Thanks for the +1! Yes, if I don't control Ghostly Prison or at least Crawlspace , I have to be very careful with the tokens. I sacrifice Varchild's War-Riders nearly as often as they get killed. But in my experience, 3 of Zealous Persecution and 3 of Ratchet Bomb usually do the trick. And yes, I use them regularly, not just as finisher with Blood Artist . I play this deck at least twice a week and until now I only lost two times to my own tokens.

I personally really like Hunted Dragon and Hunted Troll out of all the Hunted creatures

April 15, 2014 11:40 a.m.

hyperlocke says... #22

@HawkDog: I really like the Hunted cycle. For this deck, I think Hunted Phantasm is the best. It creates the most tokens, the tokens die to Zealous Persecution and they don't have any form of evasion. Plus, Hunted Phantasm is unblockable and often deals the last bit of damage.

Thanks for your suggestion!

Engineered Explosives is pretty much a strictly better Ratchet Bomb , also you could troll and put some Trinket Mage in here to search for them

@demongod: Will try it out, thanks!

OK, I tried out a few things you guys suggested.

@ryanjoha: I was quite disappointed by Mutilate . Granted, I casted it only three times, because it's a 1-of, but each time I would rather have casted Mogg Infestation . Controlling both Blood Artist and Suture Priest happens quite often, Mogg Infestation ends the game. To get that effect with Mutilate , I had to control 2 Blood Artist s, and then I colud just activate Ratchet Bomb .

@demongod: In general, Engineered Explosives may be better, but in this deck, I will keep Ratchet Bomb . I pretty much only use it to wipe tokens. In the first two turns, I give my opponent very few tokens and don't need the wipe, so the casting for 0 does nothing for me. I wipe when I control Blood Artist and there are enough tokens to win the game, or in a pinch when they destroy my Ghostly Prison and attack. In the second case, Ratchet Bomb is a lot better, because it doesn't require an activation cost other than tapping.

Thanks for your suggestions!
