A Rookie's Take on Rashmi

Commander / EDH* GU (Simic) Ramp

As I am new to Magic, this is the very first deck I've ever built. Help is greatly appreciated!

My commander is Rashmi, Eternities Crafter, who appealed to me because from all the simic commanders, she felt the most unique and interesting to build around. Simic is just because I was looking for a two-colour combo that is easy to start with.

The idea of the deck is to get as much value as possible from casting spells. Rashmi does that, as well as Managorger Hydra, Fable of Wolf and Owl and Momir Vig, Simic Visionary. To make Rashmi's triggers better, there are top-of-deck manipulators like Sensei's Divining Top, Worldly Tutor, Sylvan Library and Nissa, Steward of Elements. Next, I want to cast as many cards as possible as "first spell each turn". Flash is already good as it is, but it also makes for more Rashmi triggers. Yeva, Nature's Herald (instead of Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir, for budget reasons), Vedalken Orrery and Leyline of Anticipation make sure I could flash as much as possible. In order make that possible, I need mana. Loads of it. Kruphix, God of Horizons lets me keep all the mana I didn't use, and Omnath, Locus of Mana would also be an option. Other than that, I just ramp. And not to forget Seedborn Muse, which would be just crazy if I could combine her with Kruphix.

Speaking of ramp, this deck is glad about every land it gets, even if it's on turn ten. If the cmc of the first spell each turn is higher, my chances to be able to cast something (big) for free are better. It is also for that reason that x-spells such as Green Sun's Zenith or Nissa, Steward of Elements make more sense to play. If I have it, I can pump, say, seven additional mana in my spell and not only cast one huge spell, but get a progenitor mimic for free thanks to Rashmi. Rampaging Baloths would also benefit from additional lands. And other than that, leaving mana open for counterspells / flash without doing nothing on my own turn doesn't seem so bad to me if I have the cards for it. This leads me to card draw: Future Sight and Vizier of the Menagerie basically draw me an additional card each turn. Vizier of Many Faces is an additional card in hand once it's in the graveyard if I desperately need to cast something, which gets my Rashmi engine going. Even if I can't instantly put the card I get from her trigger into play, it still draws me something to cast next turn. What I feel like I lack (except for experience) is ways to survive. I have counters and boardwipes, as far as that is possible in g/u, but if I'm being targeted, there's not much I can do. Propaganda feels like something that would make it harder to become a first-choice target. Or potentially Vigor.

Also, I'm not so sure about my wincons. Because the strategy is literally win by value. Craterhoof Behemoth, Hydra Omnivore etc. seem good, but I could pick another Hydra or Eldrazi just as well (though I don't like the Eldrazi flavour). Since they're standalone cards, they could easily be exchanged for just anything. And I really can't tell what the right choice is due to my lack of experience. My last problem would be cutting. If you have an idea what cards I could exchange for another, especially to fit in Propaganda ('cause I really want to play that one), please let me know. Update: I replaced Thada Adel, Acquisitor with it.

I didn't buy any of the card yet, since I would like to get some feedback first and then invest my money. However, I'll update this list once I got to playtest it.

I based the whole deck mainly on suggestions I got from a certain someone and a decklist I found on channel fireball. Also, the Command Zone Podcast and Jumbo Commander on Youtube helped me get an idea on what to consider when building this EDH deck.

So that's that! Please let me know if you have any suggestions to make this deck better and more balanced. As I said at the top, help is greatly appreciated!

Updates Add

Instead of Solemn Simulacrum, Coiling Oracle, Vedalken Orrery, Burgeoning and Zendikar Resurgeant, I'm now running Sol Ring (again), Wild Growth, Fertile Ground, Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger and Prognostic Sphinx. I felt like Burgeoning wasn't as good as I hoped because it doesn't tutor for lands but just let's you play the ones you already have instead. With four as the number of mana I want to reach to get Rashmi into play asap, something that doesn't rely on the lands in hand seems better, as I can't count on four lands in my starting hand. Solemn Simulacrum as a four drop is on the same place on the curve as Rashmi, so exchainging it for something lower seemed like a good choice. Vorinclex is simply better than Zendikar Resurgeant, even though it's significantly more expensive (sob). Finally, Vendalken Orrery is a great card, but three flash enabler seemed like overkill, so I want to give Prognostic Sphinx a try, which is also a control card, but a more agressive one (and it's a creature).
