Sideboard

Maybeboard

Fun to play but not seriously competitive, this was originally just a stopgap that filled my obsessive need to have played an EDH deck in every colour combination (or, in this case, lack thereof). Since then, however, it's become one of my favourite decks to use in casual multiplayer because it rarely seems threatening until it is too late to do anything. While "Golem Tribal" sounds like janky junk, no-one underestimates it twice.

Despite the apparent lack of lands there ARE enough mana rocks and alternative strategies to work around this. Blessed be the Blinkmoth Urn! Use this to your advantage and power out the big boys before someone can dig for an answer as a well-timed Vandalblast will put this deck out of the running for good.

Combos involving Karn, Silver Golem, Golem Artisan and Voltaic Construct getting some rocks off or Metalworker + Staff of Domination with three artifacts in hand will net infinite mana, life, and cards. Utilise Planar Portal to search up win cons like Walking Ballista or use the Artisan to make all your artifacts infinitely large creatures with haste, trample and flying! The Darksteel Forge + Mycosynth Lattice pairing means every one of your permanents laughs off anything barring mass exile such as Merciless Eviction or Farewell. Both the Lattice and Liquimetal Coating/Liquimetal Torque also allow Karn to kill off lands by turning them into 0/0 artifact creatures, slowing your opponents down while your metal horde assembles itself. Apparently this is now a thing in Modern, but original non-planeswalker Karn was doing it first.

The Kaldra set, Lightning Greaves and Argentum Armor in the sideboard are for Karn, the Great Creator: people don't usually have an issue with me using them as a flavourful wishboard but they can also be swapped out for stax pieces in lower powered pods. Not running Eldrazi is a deliberate decision in order to stay more on theme, and as they can't go infinite with my artifacts they can stay in my E-Tron deck for Modern. All is Dust is pretty much the only option for a colourless board wipe so I've kept that.

...and it's colourless, motherf*ckers! Both Ugin, the Ineffable and Karn, the Great Creator are going to be absolutely savage in this deck, giving cost reduction and turning off everyone else's mana rocks. I actually particularly like Karn's -2 for commander because it will let me replace some of the fun janky cards like Argentum Armor and the Kaldra set with strong stax pieces, while keeping them available in the sideboard to bring in for fun. Also if Mycosynth Lattice is on the board then his static turns off enemy lands too, so there's that...
