A Dungrove's Deadly Friends

Standard* Control Mono-Green Zoo

thejadejedi Score: 2

The original idea of this deck comes from a friend of mine at FNM. He showed me how it works and we're trying to make it as good as possible. Currently the sideboard is what needs the most work but I'm also looking for mainboard items as well. This deck is PRE-rotation. All current cards in standard will be considered.

I'm moving to a new area and so I don't really know what kind of changes I'll be faced with in the new meta so anything general for the Sideboard will help :)

It uses lots of creatures with deathtouch as defense to keep me on the offense if I so choose. Dungrove Elder is one of the best cards in standard because of the things that give him trample. Not to mention using Unlevenwald Tracker to control the board and keeping my attackers safe. Infiltration Lens is beautiful. Swing with my dungrove, you chump block, I draw two cards to use against you. Giving him trample with Rancor just makes him great!! The maybeboard Blue stuff was a thought against board wipers like Day of Judgement?!?!?!!.

drop the Wolfir Avenger s and put in the Mwonvuli Beast Tracker s to get your deathtouch guys faster.

i wouldnt run mono green, mono colors arent a great idea IMO what with the pro color stuff i see a lot in Standard. put some black deathtouch in there as well, like maybe Vampire Nighthawk which is just a badass card no matter what.

Well, getting a creature with deathtouch often isn't a problem because I have 11 at the moment. (That means every 1 in 5-6 cards will have Deathtouch) I like the avengers because they have regenerate allowing me to block/fight with them and they'll still live. But I will take them out and see how they play without them (which might just be pretty well)

Vampire Nighthawk is such an amazing card but I feel like splashing black would only slow me down and remove from what I'm trying to do here...maybe try running 1-2 Wurmcoil Engine s?

I'm considering using two Infiltration Lens . Could be a pretty solid card draw with a Revenge of the Hunted or Big Ooze swinging, but Idk if it's still a win-more card here...Ideas?

I like the deck! There are more or less two ways a friend of mine beat my deck running both Mirran Crusader and Sword of Feast and Famine and that was through either Wall of Tanglecord or Darksteel Myr . Clearly that is a niche usage but running a mighty Crusader into an Indestructible 0/1 for all of time is annoying as all get out and without a Sword or similar power boost the Wall also did a standup job. Against more or less anything else I would not use the Myr at all though. haha (He would finish these games with the also able to block Steel Hellkite as he could wipe most of my field after investing just 2 or 3.

On a side note, I'm not sure if you seen infect very often but I haven't seen anyone run Melira, Sylvok Outcast in a very long time, haha.

And, simply because you requested it in the forum post my current two Standard decks are Infectious Control (Experimental) and The Indefatigable Legion if you would like to pick.

Hope I helped!

Dritz, yea, my old meta had like, 2-3 infect decks so I just held onto her in my SB. I'm thinking Wall of Tanglecord would be the best choice but for when it rotates. . .nvm. MC will rotate too.

And thanks for the +1! I'll check out your decks and see what I think :)

martianmartinez: I'm not really sure how good of a card that card:Yeva, Nature's Herald is...I just added her in to even out my mana curve and her flashing ability is kinda nice but overall, I don't NEED to be flashing in things all the time...she's kinda just an extra i guess you could say.

I'm gonna try flipping this deck into an aggro Dungrove Elder ramp deck. I splashed the blue in case I need to side in Negate s for anti-board wipes. I think I'll also have to have some surgical extractions so that they don't just use a second one as well.
