Derevi is strong--very strong. It's ability to avoid the Commander Tax with its ETB/attack triggered ability makes it a force to be reckoned. After making an initial build, I realized quickly not only its power but also that I used a disproportional amount of rares to other cards in order to build the deck. In an attempt to neuter the deck a little--and as a deck challenge in general--I decided on the following deck limitation:

The deck is only allowed one rare of each card type (excluding Derevi). Any of the rares can be multiple card types; if so, they count towards only one of those card types (e.g.: Bident of Thassa is an Enchantment Artifact, but is only counting towards my Enchantment card type rare--another card counts towards my Artifact card type rare).

Currently: Planeswalker: Ajani Goldmane Creature: Sunblast Angel Land: Thawing Glaciers Artifact: Dragon Throne of Tarkir Enchantment: Bident of Thassa Instant: Plasm Capture Sorcery: Supreme Verdict Tribal: Notorious Throng (yeah, black Fairies goes against strict color identity, but there's not a lot of choices here)

Updates Add

Most of these changes are for War of the Spark. After taking a look at Ixalan, the only card I could see adding was Path of Discovery. This would mean getting rid of Bident of Thassa or Dragon Throne of Tarkir--both have been vital for smooth card draw and finishers. It's possible the Dragon Throne isn't as good as I'd like, but it's been used several times fairly effectively. There'll be a few additions I'm looking at from Modern Horizons, which I'll add in a future update.

Remove Duskwatch Recruiter  Flip for Neoform: should be a direct upgrade. Duskwatch's activated ability was rarely used, for whatever reason, and the backside doesn't ever get utilized. Also, Neoform supports the +1/+1 counter theme.

Remove Jhessian Infiltrator for Merfolk Skydiver: direct upgrade. +1/+1 counter theme, proliferate, and still has evasion for the same cost.

Remove Skyward Eye Prophets, Retreat to Emeria, Slith Strider, Urban Evolution for Flux Channeler, Grateful Apparition, Evolution Sage, and Jiang Yanggu, Wildcrafter: these weren't super easy cuts, but I'm of the belief these proliferate cards and Jiang will go much further than these will. It does mean cutting some card draw effects, but hopefully having these static abilities (and getting to add a relevant planeswalker) will make up for it.
