Plans for a Yidris, Maelstrom Wielder deck when it comes out. The goal of the deck is to be aggressive and cast big things in my second main phase with Cascade for value. Most importantly I want to use three of my favorite cards; See the Unwritten, Maelstrom Wanderer, and Selvala's Stampede. I don't think there are enough creatures to add my other favorite card, Lurking Predators .

One of the main ways I foresee this deck winning is through infinite combat phases:

Aggravated Assault / Hellkite Charger + Sword of Feast and Famine / Bear Umbra / Nature's Will and enough mana will result in infinite combats.

So will Aggravated Assault + Savage Ventmaw .

There are a couple other synergies that can just take a player out of the game:

Malignus / Consuming Aberration + Xenagos, God of Revels / Double Strike (Blood Mist / Berserkers' Onslaught)

Double Strike also synergizes with Yidris, it's been ruled that if he deals combat damage multiple times in one turn your spells will have multiple instances of Cascade. So extra combat phases also do the trick. Having a way to untap your lands for the second main phase (Nature's Will, etc)) allows you to cast those spells and cascade.

This deck focuses quite a bit on Yidris, so there are no counterspells because cascading into them would be pretty bad. The removal is also pretty diverse so that it will always have a target; an example is that Terminate was replaced with Putrefy .

Each of Champion's Helm, Bear Umbra , and Sword of Feast and Famine also give Yidris the magic power of 7, making him a three-turn-clock, so he's a terrifying beater.

Because you want high CMC things to cascade with it's natural to have a lot of ramp in this deck. Cultivate and Kodama's Reach are staples for mana fixing and Tempt with Discovery is great for getting important nonbasics such as Rogue's Passage. This much Ramp also means you can afford to run big, scary things. The big ones are Sepulchral Primordial and Sheoldred, Whispering One. Never underestimate just having big things.

As a rules clarification, you can kick a spell if you Cascade into it and you have extra mana, as it is an additional cost when casting, not an alternate cost (so you wouldn't be able to Overload Cyclonic Rift). Also, Delve does not change the CMC of a spell, so if you cast Tasigur, the Golden Fang or Treasure Cruise by Delving them you still cascade for 8.

This deck is hilariously fun, and I welcome any and all discussion. A little about myself; I'm a pretty casual player who doesn't spend much on cards. I usually acquire good cards over a long period of time trading the stuff I pick up in draft. I'm also really aggressive, and truly a Timmy at heart. If you make a suggestion and I disagree it may just be that the card you want to replace is one of my favorites, so while you may be correct in a card assessment I trust the heart of the cards. Thanks in advance and I'd be happy to reciprocate if you have a deck you're working on. Let's do this!
