Hi friends! I'm Marti and dragons are my most favorite thing in the world! I love playing any kinds of dragon decks. I've had a Zirilan of the Claw EDG deck for almost two years and I love it, I played a 5-color Scion of the Ur-Dragon and it was my first 5-color deck for which I had to actually give money, but it was great. And when the Big Dragon Daddy himself finally made an appearance, I went a lil' crazy. Ramp up or reduce casting costs of dragons and then hit face. The Ur-Dragon is basically a glorified finisher or a utility engine, whichever you need.

When it comes to creature choices, the obvious dragons form the Fate reforged cycle make the cut. Kolaghan, the Storm's Fury is surprisingly good in the deck especially if you have more than one dragon on the field. I was not aware that Ur reduced her dash ability, which makes her even better here. Silumgar, the Drifting Death He is insane against token decks. Literally pure sweeping death. If you manage to get 2 dragons to attack then it can be a pretty good board sweeper. I like his defensive stats as well. Dromoka, the Eternal This was the only dragon out of the five that I was not impressed with,in act I think she downright sucked, especially given she has such an ambitious name. In here, however, she is stellar.Drop her on turn 4 and swing for 7 on turn 5 and she also gives to possibility for other dragons to grow. Ojutai, Soul of Winter is a card I always liked. 7 mana was a bit too much for an effect like his,but at 6 his ability can become pretty good. He is an enabler and a solid blocker which makes hi ma good addition. Atarka, World Render is where it's at. This is the killer, the one people know you are running, and the one that has an arguably bigger target on her head than Ur himself. It's a merciless killing machine that can one-shot people out of nowhere.

The 5 Dragonlords have little to no interaction with the tribe but are overall too good not to include. Dragonlord Ojutai wasn't performing so well so I ended up cutting him. I decided to cut Karrthus, Tyrant of Jund because he felt like a double edged sword in this particular deck. He is sort of a combo piece in my Scion of the Ur-Dragon and works with Patriarch's Bidding

Wasitora is both an early aggro tool and a control tool that punishes the opponent or creates board for you and your Tarkir dragons. Ramos can ramp up to Ur if you have enough colors which I have yet to pull off,but is definitely worth a slot. Scalelord Reckoner is an absolutely insane punish card. It's oppressive and people generally hate seeing it in play. It provides protection for your dragons by making the cost for targeted removal a bit high for the opponent. Wonderful dragon. I wanted to test Eternal Dragon to see if I like it and if would work well in here.

Lots of dragons, just go face and watch people die. You are probably gonna have a bad time vs decks prone to more control and/or combo. This is a fun deck and it's pretty much a no-brainer one too but it does get the job done. It's not particularly competitive but it does have some expensive cards like Fetch lands and it's mostly because the mana base is so damn important for the deck to work correctly.

After some time I came to the conclusion that I need a faster type of Removal to be able to deal with things like Kaalia. So I decided to use the most basic solution- Burn. There are tons of cards that I can fit in this deck, and I had to make some cuts to squeze in a couple of Burn cards.

In

Punishing Fire- Very themeatic and flavourful. I chose the Knights vs Dragons version. This can easily burn a more vulnerable commander like Kaalia of the Vast or some other key cards. In rare cases I can even recur it which is nice.

Spit Flame- This somehow went under my radar and I never knew it existed until I was doing search on burn spells. Not terribly efficient, for 3 mana it can deal 4 to a creature only, but It can recur itself when I play dragons so I'll try it. Also, flavourful.

Flame Sweep- This one, I think is great. Probably the best of my choices. It spares my flyers and annihilates my oponents' tokens and small ultility creatures.

Glorybringer- I was initially considering him, but he didn't make the cut for a while. I recently revised that decision because he costs 4 mana and can deal 4 dmg when he attacks. 4 damige can hit a lot of targets, so I'm gonna keep him around.

Drakuseth, Maw of Flames- Oooooh boy, 3 red mana ina a 5 color deck. Am I nuts? Yes, yes I am. I actually didn't have such a hard time casting him and he was pretty impactful. The amount of burn damige he deals all around is pretty neat. I feel like this card is important and worth the risk.

O-Kagachi, Vengeful Kami- well, this card is back. I never really sondiered him to be bad. He is a 6/6 for 5, flyes and has trample. Can remove a permanent if someone had hit me for whatever reason. Of course, he has to deal damige so we will see how this goes. His slot is wobbly, and if I get a better dragon, he will probably be cut.

Fist of Suns- This is also back for some playtesting. It occured to me when I added Drakuseth, that I might need to work on my mana base. Sometimes, it is easier for me to generate 5 colors instead of 2 red or a R/G.

Volrath's Stronghold- I ended up cutting Patriarch's Bidding a while ago because I wasn't very pleased with it. It worked far better in Scion of the Ur-Dragon. This is a utility land, but there are Dragons that I'd like to replay and sometimes this gives me options when I don't have many.

Out

Dragon Broodmother- Very unfortnate, but sacrifices had to be made for some answers in the early game. Asaide from having the 3 red mana, she also wanted green and that wa smore problematic than casting Dracuseth or Scourge of Valkas. It is truly a great card and maybe I'll find room for it in the future.

Sarkhan the Mad- This card had actually won me games and I was very fond of it, but it was 5 mana and I needed to make room for faster cards.

Sarkhan the Masterless- This seemed like such a good defensive tool. He can turn into a Dragon, and he can make Dragons. Unfortunately, at 5 mana, Sarkhan was fighting with Dragons I wanted to drop on the field, so he got cut.

Vaevictis Asmadi, the Dire- I really like this card, but I was not super impressed with him in the Early game, when I really want to keep my Lands and Artifacts and so I gave up on him.

Broodmate Dragon- Very fond of this as well. If felt like a good deal to drop 2 4/4s for 5 mana, but I had to make room.

Teneb, the Harvester- Teneb has been sitting in here for the longest time, and hasn't really done anything important. It was time to go.

Balefire Dragon- I love this card. I love it more than I can explain. But he wasn't doing as good as I wished. Maybe I'll reconsider and put him back in in the future.

Forest- Away with you!
