is land destruction viable in Modern?

probably not, but I'm going to try.I would call it mono-red, in spite of the Ajani, and the surgical extraction. The Ajani Vengeant is there simply because the Flagstones of Trokair with either Boom/Bust or Crack the Earth makes him an option, and he's lock a land, or lock a creature down (as needed).

I based the deck creation around the local meta that is VERY greedy. Lots use nonbasic lands.

I've played the deck in one tournament (1/3/0 with a bye) and the games were fairly competitive even though I was on the wrong end. I did some tweaking and am taking it to a PPTQ this weekend. -here's hoping-

So, I played in the Provincials, I did quite badly, but every time I sat down I was greeted with 'oh no, it's you' .... so my deck preceded me....
I've had a local aggro player and a local control player make suggestions with the caveat 'it's so close'
the first was Ghost Quarters instead of Darksteel Citadel I've found that it slowed the deck down, but would possibly be useful later game....
I'm going to try Nahiri, the Harbinger to see if she plays nicely with Ajani Vengeant here's hoping :)
