8-whack goblins, bruh!

Just getting into the competitive Modern scene. Figured I should start with something straightforward, and goblins seem like they can slide under some other (better) decks.

Modern players love data, so I'll keep notes and a change log as I learn the format. I have more detailed records in a spreadsheet, which I will eventually publish somewhere.

07/11/2017: First build after dismantling a casual Izzet goblins build. I still run a few more spells and a few less creatures than most incarnations. I like the Krenko's Command and Dragon Fodder because they can help recover from a board wipe. Dynacharge is pretty sick, is almost like having more Bushwhackers. Went 3-1 against BW Jank, RW Burn, Eldrazi Tron (my only match loss), and Dredge. Decided to get more Blood Moon!

07/18/2017: First outing went well, so I made minimal changes. Cut two Cheiftains, as they are powerful but not always helping me slide under decks that can win/do a lot by T4. Also, Chieftain will never get me over an Anger of the Gods which is the relevant sweeper these days. So, cut two and added two Devastating Summon. Great card, never want to see more than one, so two seemed like a good number. Added three Blood Moon to the sideboard, cut one Smash to Smithereens and both Shattering Spree. Went 3-1 again against RW Jank, Ponza, Merfolk (my only match loss), and Bant Eldrazi. I didn't board aggressively enough against Merfolk, who would've been susceptible to Sprees and Moons. Thought I could slide under them, which came very very close to working, but couldn't get there in game three.

07/23/2017: Still happy with the deck. Mainboarded one Blood Moon, playing at 61 cards. This created space in the sideboard for a Shattering Spree. Will be making some bigger changes next week, may cut Chieftain, may cut some Fodder/Command. Thinking that Mogg War Marshal may be better than Fodder/Command because it's got a bit of board wipe insurance if I pay the mana, and with 8 whacks, there's a good chance I can give the new token haste if I don't want to pay the mana. Thinking about putting a Pithing Needle or two in the sideboard, as it seems like a catch-all card that can even stop some enchantments from working, which is otherwise impossible in this deck.
