Taigam, Sidisi's Hand

Commander / EDH

epicloot

Combo/control Deck, where we aim to win through multiple different win cons. Draw/Mill/Play our whole Deck, Draw/Mill opponents decks/graveyards. Or mass recursion into an extra turn for the win.

I have over 15 commander decks, this is my favorite by far.

This is a reactionary, pillow fort, control / survive till we assemble combo and win deck. We very very rarely use the combat step to win, but can as a last resort.

First off, Why Taigam, Sidisi's Hand? Colors, Dimir are the colors of mill and with that and graveyard recursion being our win cons he fits right into the goal of the deck. Skipping the draw step normally sounds bad but we are going to take advantage of this by being selective on the upkeep trigger of what we put in our and hand and what we are putting in the graveyard to recur later we are basically drawing three cards a turn for FREE!!! Also, Taigam's activated ability let's us use cards in the graveyard to be defensive or remove troublesome indestructible creatures in the form of -1/-1 counters. The targets in the graveyard to use this ability are normally lands since we have the ability to recast so many of the spells in our graveyard.

Primary win con:

Enter the Infinite + Omniscience + Laboratory Maniac = Draw and play our whole deck and win.

Secondary win con:

Rise of the Dark Realms + Nexus of Fate = Big Board + Swing Big on next turn.

Third win con:

Deck our selves with Laboratory Maniac + Ancient Excavation.

Opponent removal:

Mill a single opponent with:

Fleet Swallower + Fraying Sanity (played 2nd main after the attack trigger) = opponent mills entire library.
Also, note Fleet Swallower's trigger is on attack so we can often use Maze of Ith to untap it since we don't care about the damage and more likely want it as a blocker.

Rise of the Dark Realms + Altar of Dementia = Fill the board, then sac those creatures to mill target opponent.

Mill all our opponents with:

Psychic Corrosion + Enter the Infinite = Deck each opponent.

Steal our opponents hands with any of the following:

Notion Thief + any one of the following Wheels:

Wheel and Deal,
Windfall,
Jace's Archivist,
Whispering Madness.

Infinite drain our opponents with: Bloodchief Ascension + Mindcrank.

IMPORTANT NOTE!!! THIS IS NOT A COMBO

Omniscience + Yawgmoth's Will (See gatherer for Yawg's Will for questions)

Starting hand could have a turn one win but that would require all 5 of the following cards in hand and you would play them in the following order.

Island + Mana Crypt + Show and Tell + Omniscience + Enter the Infinite, Cast Laboratory Maniac, Cast any of the 3 Wheels. You win :)

However, I have never had that happen.

You could also try to get there with just the first 4 in hand and maybe a wheel and hope to get really far ahead.

With this deck we can win as soon as we get the right three cards in hand or graveyard and have ways to cheat playing them for cheaper (as long as we don't get countered). Those three cards are Show and Tell Which we use to cheat paying the mana cost of Omniscience, which we then use to cheat paying the mana cost of Enter the Infinite. Which then allows us to " Draw " our library.

Another one of our ways to cheat playing either Rise of the Dark Realms or Enter the Infinite is casting it from our graveyard using Spelltwine.

Second, I want to discuss the mana base and why we are only running 26 mana producing lands + Maze of Ith + Terramorphic Expanse, compared to the standard commander deck which varies 36-39 lands. Our top end of cards we expect to actually hard cast is only 5 converted mana cost + Deadeye Navigator at 6. The rest of the deck we do not hard cast unless we see an opportunity to take advantage of.

Still writing this up taking a break.. 10/28/2018
