Master of Cruelties, as well as most of the creatures in this deck, have Deathtouch. With Warstorm Surge, each creature ETB will kill something, leaving behind a mess of creatures that you'd rather not attack into. Lightning Volley will turn that army into sharpshooters, picking off anything thats targetable. Once you clear the board, you can pretty much walk up to your opponent with Master of Cruelties. Mortarpod is good for a silver bullet shot. Incite War for when your opponent thinks they'd rather not attack or for a tricky first strike combat maneuver.

Once Master of Cruelties succesfully reduces the opponents life total to 1, you can Lightning Volley, Mortarpod or Piranha Marsh for the win.
