I present my latest brew: Rally the Ancestors combo deck.
The general gameplan for this deck is to fill your graveyard with cards like Satyr Wayfinder, Nyx Weaver, and Commune with the Gods and then survive until you have 7 lands in play, cast
Rally the Ancestors
for 5 and win. Depending on the situation, this will often be an instant kill with Gray Merchant of Asphodel and Siege Rhino triggers. Sometimes you may have to attack in for lethal -- this is what
Mogis's Marauder
and
Master of the Feast
are for -- nothing like a couple 5/5 hasty fliers to put the game away.
In the event your combo gets disrupted, this deck is still incredibly resilient. Tasigur, the Golden Fang is a solid body that lets you start pulling threats out of your yard one at a time -- and you'll pretty much always cast him for B. Whip of Erebos has the same effect. Incidental life gain from Rhinos and Merchants will keep you alive long enough to set up your combo. Don't be afraid to chump block large attackers as you prepare to go off, as having them in the yard instead of on the field is often better for you!
Sideboard suggestions:
Against aggro decks, side out Gray Merchants and put in
Doomwake Giant
s and Drown in Sorrows to clean out their board and win you the game. Fleecemane Lion can also work here.
Against control decks, you're never going to be able to cast Rally unless they do something horribly wrong. Take out the Rallies, take out the Gray Merchants, and put in the Fleecemane Lion and
Boon Satyr
and turn into Abzan Aggro. Turn 2 Fleecemane into Turn 3 end step Boon Satyr, Turn 4 Siege Rhino is incredibly hard for U/B control to deal with.
Erase is in the sideboard primarily to deal with things like Erebos, God of the Dead and
Agent of Erebos
, both really nasty against this deck. You can also use it against other decks running Whip of Erebos or Ascendancy combo decks.
