Here is my week in Abzan midrange list for the Throne of Eldraine standard. I have evaluated the sultai midrange iterations of the midrange list as well as the Abzan, and I have found that Abzan provides a little more raw power. Clearly, after the first few hectic weeks of standard there will have to be adaptive changes-especially in the board. Some of the cards that are metagame based are going to be the legions end, despark, vraska, and oath of kaya.
Our main advantage with the list is to out value early pressuring decks and having enough power and card draw to beat the heavy control match ups. Oath of Kaya, Tolsimir, Garruk will give us the control and life gain to over power the aggro lists that we will come across. The Paradise Druid, Incubation Druid will give us a turn 4 Tolsimir and a turn 5 Garruk, as well as mana fixing for us. We all know that 3 mana planeswalkers are going to be relevant in this standard. Teferi, Oko, TRS are all extremely powerful 3 mana planeswalkers that require answers. Our 4 drop slots, Questing Beast, Vraska will help us deal with these threats on curve. One of the largest powerhouses in this list is Kethis, we are playing majority legends and being able to cast our threats a turn earlier will determine the game. One card that I am still not insanely sure upon is Nissa, there is not much synergy other than the fact that she is a busted magic card. I believe that she deserves a spot in every green list, but I could be very much wrong.
I would like to hear what you all have to say about the list. Thank you for reviewing it and if you decide to sleeve up Abzan, I wish you the best of luck!
