I challenged myself to build an EDH deck built with the same machinery as modern Eggs. It is a little bit of pre-Second Sunrise-banning Eggs and is also heavily inspired by Conley Woods' KCI-centric list as outlined on the Channel Fireball website. The main engine is Krark-Clan Ironworks, Second Sunrise/Faith's Reward/Open the Vaults/Roar of Reclamation, and Codex Shredder. Wincon is a fireball spell, preferably Comet Storm, and/or Disciple of the Vault, Arcbound Ravager if necessary. Breya, Etherium Shaper also works. The point of the deck is not to mill the whole deck. Rather, all that is needed are the main combo pieces and about 10 artifacts.

In my opening hand, I'm shooting for 2 to 3 lands, eggs that will draw me cards, and fast mana. The plan is to play out the mana rocks and eggs as fast as possible, digging for either KCI or one of the recursion pieces. Later in the game, once the combo is rolling, Second Sunrise/Faith's Reward is good. However, I find that Roar of Reclamation/Open the Vaults are great as first recursion spells, because in EDH, it is difficult to combo off in just one turn unless you already have recursion in hand, and these spells get you back all the resources you spent to find them in previous turns. Their mana cost is usually not prohibitive. If you have them, don't forget to utilize tools like Riddlesmith, Scrap Trawler, and Aetherworks Marvel to gain extra card advantage. A Myr Retriever can make a late Second Sunrise/Faith's Reward viable, as it lets you get back your old fuel. Pia's Revolution and Scrap Trawler can act as a temporary replacement for the Second Sunrise-type cards if they aren't around.

I used to have a complex land base with filter lands and pain lands (still in the maybeboard), but I decided, since the color doesn't matter all that often (most of the costs in the deck are colorless), basics are better.
