The premise of the whole deck is to ramp up to Gishath as early as possible for some big hits of the player damage ability. The enchantments and sorceries have the ability to set you up for a turn 3/4 Gishath in which you should have no problem getting a full hit off at least somebody in the play group.

A key note to acknowledge is that this Dino deck is not based off the enrage feature a lot of dinosaurs come with. Enrage abilities are generally unreliable to get off especially if you’re trying to get triggers from damaging your own creatures. Focusing on getting as many creatures out and winning with overwhelming pressure is much more consistent.

BOARD WIPES Apex Altisaur will continue fighting for as long as you want him to. Combine this with a divinity counter from Kindred Boon or only taking 1 damage from Temple Altisaur and you’ve got yourself a semi-reliable creature board wipe. Wakening Sun’s Avatar will destroy all non-dinos as long as the card is cast so keep in mind what non-dinos you have on the field. Cleansing Nova will destroy all creatures OR all artifacts/enchantments so as such it’s more of a last resort. Possible not an ideal card but it’s what’s in right now. Bane of Progress will destroy all artifacts/enchantments and get a 1/1 counter for each things destroyed. This can be a very key card in the right moment destroying a lot of your opponents bullshit and giving you a big creature in return. The downside is that you will destroy your own things so keep in mind what you want to put down if you feel that playing Bane is important.

WORKING COMBOS Fiery Emancipation with Warstorm Surge could potentially kill an entire table off a Gishath hit. The x3 damage will get one kill off commander damage on a full hit at 21, letting you look through the top 21 cards of the deck for dinosaurs to put down. Depending on your hits you could be doing monstrous direct damage to players. Temple Altisaur with Regisaur Alpha let’s you be as aggressive as possible without worrying about creatures dying, all while being aggressive as early as possible. The damage reduction combined with auto haste allows you to leave most worry behind. Playing Zacama, then Gishath, then Rohnas let’s you play Zamaca for free and then attack with a double strength Gishath. The combo amplifies if you have Regisaur Alpha already in play because you can then attack with a double strength Zacama. Since Zacama’s untap ability is a cast trigger it is not ideal to play him off a Gishath trigger but that’s not really avoidable.

PROTECTION Tefari’s Protection is just a fantastic card all around especially if you play against 3-5 people with Cyclonic Rift (actual agony). Cyclonic can really mess up your board state especially if your about to go for the killing blow so try to reserve Tefari’s for when you need it Kindred Boon is an expensive piece considering it has a cast cost and an activated ability cost for each indivisible creature. I find that this is most helpful to defend against deathtouch creatures or slap a counter on Apex Altisaur for a decent boardwipe. Heroic Intervention is a great card considering how cheap it is and the combo of indestructible plus hexproof. Can really save your board in a pinch.

All in all the strategy remains the same most games. Ramp, Ramp, Ramp, Gishath pulls until you win. The downside is that the deck is pretty commander heavy, but not 100% reliant. You generally won’t win just from Gishath doing all the damage as he isn’t super strengthy. His role is to spit out as many creatures as possible. If you want big green dinosaurs then this is it.
