Commander / EDH

Breya has reshaped my previous 5-color artifacts commander deck into something better. This deck is full of fun synergies and flexible gameplay. Enjoy!

Training Grounds

Maybe even try running Memnarch to make your opponents' things artifacts and sacrificing them to one of the mana-ramping outlets.

I really like the deck idea with Breya. I have been considering getting her when she is released, but as your said, her abilities are lack luster. I had already considered making a Sydri, Galvanic Genius deck before Breya was released.

So question: Do you consider this a combo deck, in the sense you just get your pieces and win? I'll be honest when I say I don't like that being my ONLY way to win. My meta though is both "casual" in the sense some people just love commander and don't care for combos, and "spiky" in the sense that they just combo out as fast as possible like turn 5-7.

I really like decks to be competitive enough to hold their own, but isn't the deck I pull out and people go "Oh Shit Breya!" And I get killed immediately

foxboy93 with her abilities she screams combo.

But have a great array of spells for her as well.

She is what you make of it; you could throw in one infinite loop to ensure a massive win (generate mana to kill everyone) or you can pump the deck full of artifact love with the big baddies, or go control by having Memnarch take anything.

Metalworker should be banned but this deck needs it.

It's not that I don't like combo, but as mentioned above I don't want it to be my only win con.

As mentioned in my earlier comment, I have an array of players. all the way from combo town to casual city. Finding a happy medium is awesome. I don't want to pull her out and immediately be a target (like with Sharuum). Combos are good to have when you need to close the game out though.

Sorry perhaps I wasn't explaining myself foxboy93

I think Breya has the potential to have a wide array of strategies: combo, beat-down, control, etc.

foxboy93 I hear you. There was another build I wanted to try with Breya that is a little less combocentric. I'll send it to you when I finish. I think you guys are on the right page. With 4 colors there is no one way to build these generals.

Fair enough. My main issue is Idk what I really want to do with the deck. Most creatures you see and understand what they do and sort of dictate how the deck should be built. I'm just finding a hard time of how to upgrade her. Out of the box (as of posting this reply, the deck lists are available) she looks pretty good as is (about a 5 min look since I'm at work).

As a competitive build I give you 10/10. Some of the cards are a bit out of my price range, but finding budget replacements are easy enough in artifacts. As I mentioned to n0bunga, there is nothing wrong with a good combo, but I'm my meta we have both casual and spike players and I don't like building a combo deck and winning via only combo.

I had an Alesha, Who Smiles at Death combo deck. She's awesome and it was a good deck, but I always found myself not playing her due the high competitiveness she was built at.

At the time of this post, the full deck lists are available and they have alot of the cards you mentioned in your tech. I still don't know how I plan to build her, but you have alot of good ideas so I would be happy to talk more about her with you :)

Eldrazi Displacer, Heartstone, Mycosynth Lattice, Hellkite Tyrant? Maybe give these a go...another replacement for the displacer could be Deadeye Navigator

Where's open the vault? I feel like if your graveyard is full of even just one combo (Honestly, when will it not be?!) open the vaults becomes a 6 mana win the game card. Other than that, I love Breya, I love this deck and I will definitely be using it as a building point. Thanks!

JumboCommander will you post your second Breya List when you are finished?

October 31, 2016 6:54 p.m.

All great suggestions. This place is full of great ideas.

Miehen I have made the thopter tribal deck ... it looks fun. I want to tweak it then I'll post it soon-ish.

Dear JumboCommander,

as a proud owner of a Daretti, Scrap Savant combo deck I highly appreciate your combolicious take on Breya, Etherium Shaper. Of course I found many combos here I utilize(d) as well, yet you inspired some further ideas. Thank you very much for that!

Because I'm a bit curious, I would still like to ask you a question:

Was Pentavus ever a part of the deck? If yes, did you take it out due to its high cmc? And if not, have you considered it? For me it used to enable the same combos Myr Battlesphere and now Breya herself offer and is thus adding some redundancy, which is never bad! Thanks in advance,

Omut says... #16

Breya does not need redundancy. It can win alone.

Myr Battlesphere is 5 artifact creatures for the cost of one Goblin Welder's tap, Time Sieve fodder plus indirect planesworker killer.

flashbackjack, Riddlesmith is better

Grantley91 says... #18

I didn't see anybody mention it, and haven't watched the video, but is there a reason (other than CMC) that you aren't running Darksteel Forge?

Because in this build we want our things to hit the grave. Sets off Bitter Ordeal and Disciple of the Vault

n0bunga says... #20

Yeah, sacrificing won't affect indestructibility but yeah it just makes the process more convoluted.

November 2, 2016 5:36 p.m.

Sersorias says... #21

@Omut: Riddlesmith is generally not better, as it requires you to cast an artifact spell. Quicksmith Genius triggers from any artifact entering the battlefield, which means you can (pseudo-)loot five times from a single Myr Battlesphere for instance. With an adequate engine you can mill your whole deck until you eventually find Scrap Mastery and put every artifact on the battlefield - which should win you the game. It might be a niche win condition, but it is fun nonetheless!

Of course Riddlesmith has some advantages over the Genius as "blue looting" is better than "red looting" and it costs one less mana. It is just less of a combo engine after all :)

Leechridden Swamp doesn't really help out the deck much. I could make an argument for Mistveil Plains, but Swamp doesn't impact the game enough.

Same goes for Death Grasp. It doesn't change the game enough to warrant it's inclusion. Something like Exsanguinate is more impactful and does almost the same thing. This is a combo deck though so we don't really need anything like these two cards in there. (Imo)

Hi JumboCommander, thanks for the reply. I can't wait to see your thopter tribal list. Do you have a list yet? I would like to test it this weekend. After that I can tell you how the it has performed.

Kind regards

Any ideas with ugin's nexus?

November 17, 2016 7:47 a.m.

Sersorias says... #30

Ugin's Nexus only really works with Prototype Portal as far as I know. At least if you want to abuse it, that is. For a one time use it may be fine, but nothing more.

You could try Mindslaver instead, which doesn't have the exile clause - yet it works best in duel commander.

Have basically tested out almost all Breya deck out here in tappedout especially those with high up votes and I could safely say that this is the more smooth and linear deck amongst all of them. Good job Jumbo Commander!

Have you tought about Aetherworks Marvel? Seems to fit with graveyard recursion and untapping artifacts

EBTDizzle says... #35

Great deck. +1!

One small suggestion for an alternative to Time Sieve. Gonti's Aether Heart costs more up front, and can only be used once, but it allows you to take an extra turn without sacrificing artifacts, and it can be triggered simply by summoning Breya once after it hits the battlefield.

You should run Purphoros, God of the Forge. It's a great card for your Phyrexian Metamorph + Sharuum the Hegemon combo.
