Emmara is a token deck that goes about making tokens in some interesting and fun ways. At face value she doesn't seem like much but thanks to her low casting cost and good colors you can actually build up a board state quite quickly and start really abusing her ability.

The first step in getting Emmara going is a free tap effect. We run 8 tap effects for consistency as this deck does not run many tutors. Wirewood Symbiote , Springleaf Drum , Presence of Gond , Paradise Mantle , Glare of Subdual , Cryptolith Rite , Survivors' Encampment , and Resplendent Mentor are the primary way to get Emmara to trigger. There are 2 convoke cards as well to up the chances of not having to use combat to get her effect.

After Emmara is out and a tap effect is online we can really start to make tokens but unfortunately they are not very threatening on their own being 1/1s. Fortunately we have ways to capitalize on free token production. Essence Warden , Soul's Attendant , and Soul Warden will convert not only your tokens but also everyone else's creatures into incidental lifegain. Camaraderie , Skullclamp , Collective Unconscious , Mentor of the Meek , and Shamanic Revelation can turn your token army into some insane card advantage. Ashnod's Altar , Phyrexian Altar , and Cryptolith Rite give you a big mana payoff to help fuel big spells.

Once Our engine has started turning we hold up our army and wait to deploy a wincon. Emmara has several ways to win, sometimes accidently assembling a combo on the way. While combo is not the main goal of this deck if a game goes on long enough one will eventually turn up. Notable combos are a sac outlet, a repeatable tap outlet on Emmara and Thornbite Staff . This allows us to tap Emmara for a token and usually an additional effect, then we sac a token to our sac outlet which will trigger the staff untapping Emmara allowing us repeat this process as many times as we want. If our sac outlet is Blasting Station we just kill everyone by saccing our tokens over and over for infinite damage. If Ashnod's Altar , or Phyrexian Altar is our sac outlet that results in infinite mana which we can use for several things. With Mentor of the Meek we get to draw and play our entire deck by using the mana we net to draw a card for as many times as we like. We can also pump the mana into either March of the Multitudes , Secure the Wastes , or Martial Coup . Only use the last one if you have an Eldrazi Monument out first to avoid killing your engine. Anointed Procession lets us net tokens from the exchange and produce any amount of creatures to kill our opponents off next turn if you dont have an outlet for the mana. another way to make unbounded tokens is Midnight Guard , and Presence of Gond and it works without Emmara on the feild. If you have a lifgain effect when doing one of these combos you can use Aetherflux Reservoir to start laser gunning people for 50.

Aside from accidentally assembling one of the above combos we use some more traditional ways to close out a game through combat. Our big wins come from cards that either make our tokens essentially unblockable or really big. Triumph of the Hordes is one of our best non-infinite ways to close out a game as it not only gives trample but infect too. Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite , Cathars' Crusade , Beastmaster Ascension , and Thunderfoot Baloth all make our creatures big enough to turn into a serious threat, and Champion of Lambholt , Akroma's Memorial , and Eldrazi Monument give really good evasion and make our army hard to block. Lastly Winds of Abandon can completely wipe our opponents field letting us swing in unhindered to close out the game.

Emmara relies heavily on dorks to produce mana and let us cast our big spells as early as turn 4-5. This also synergizes with several untap effects to generate even more mana to ramp very fast out of nowhere. Having this excess mana is important so we can hold up some mana at all times for our removal suite. we run a large amount of artifact and enchantment removal as stax effects can really hurt our gameplan and sometimes render our huge numbers useless.

Emmara is a very fun deck and has room for a serious jump in power if you want to take it that direction. G/W has access to some very good tutors to make the combos way more consistent. Enlightened Tutor is an option for finding your sac outlets and Open the Armory finds either Presence of Gond or Thornbite Staff . Green has some very good creature tutors as well to help get your pieces together. Green Sun's Zenith , and Finale of Devastation are both good option for finding creatures and we already run Eladamri's Call . Decreasing the amount of the removal could give the deck room for some more consistent draw engines to help find your pieces faster as well.
