This is a control deck that tries to stall the opponent until it lands a large threat and transfers that into a win. ie: Mindslaver lock, Sundering Titan + Repeal.

Now we've all seen a tron deck before(at least those of us that have played for some amount of time) these are the core parts of the deck and why they're here.

Urza's Tower, Urza's Power Plant, Urza's Mine: This is the most important part of the deck, the "Tron" part of the deck, the mana engine.

Expedition Map Finds the other tron pieces.

Now for the core of mono blue tron decks...

Condescend: A good counter for a deck with tons of mana, Is pretty much a hard counter, and on top of that it scrys.

Remand: Best counterspell in modern. Not much more to say here.

Thirst for Knowledge: Card advantage. Really good when i have artifacts to discard.

Talisman of Dominance Another blue source that is also an artifact.

Now for the payoffs...

Mindslaver: You have not lived until you've activated Mindslaver. You get perfect information about their hand, deck(if they have fetches), and sideboard(yes you can see it so always ask if in a competitive match). It's also the first win condition I search for in most situations.

Wurmcoil Engine: An absolute house against most decks. Very hard to beat for jund and most aggro decks.

Sundering Titan : Well... mana denial hurts. Alot. It's great against all these 4 color decks that have absurdly greedy manabases. I've destroyed 4 dual lands at once. My opponents did not come back from that.

Myr Battlesphere This one's a little harder to explain. It makes blockers, a ton of them. That's not why it's here. It's here because it kills an opponent in 2 turns.

Tutors...

Fabricate: tutors for every artifact in the deck. nuff said.

Treasure Mage : Gets all my win cons.

Gifts Ungiven: I usually cast this either when I activate Mindslaver, which is pretty much a double Demonic Tutor, the other spot is when i have tron complete, I search for Sundering Titan , Mindslaver, Myr Battlesphere, and Wurmcoil Engine. It's hard to lose from there.

Utility...

Cyclonic Rift: Upheaval. Only for the opponent.

Spell Burst: Pretty much a soft lock with tons of mana.

Solemn Simulacrum: Ramp, Mana fixing, good body.

Oblivion Stone: Tutorable board wipe. Gets me out of tough spots.

Snapcaster Mage: Also a format staple. not much to say here.

Academy Ruins: Best utility card in the deck. Plays into a hard lock with Mindslaver, a soft lock with Oblivion Stone, and is amazing with any other artifact that I want to draw.

Tectonic Edge: Yet another format staple.

the random lands...

Oboro, Palace in the Clouds: This is pretty much an Island. It is useful in many corner cases. Good against merfolk decks, denies island walk. Provides a blue source and can avoid Tectonic Edge.

Snow-Covered Island : An island that i can also search for with Gifts Ungiven
