Core Card Explanations Show

Blood Moon

Easily the best card in the deck. Along with Simian Spirit Guide can come down on turn 1 or 2, which beat many decks in modern by itself that run very few basics.

Koth of the Hammer

Our main threat. Koth is the best red plainswalker (which isn't saying much). His +1 puts on a clock or allows you to untap in order to hold up removal. His ultimate might as well say "win the game" in most matchups.

Lightning Bolt

Some of the most efficent red removal/burn in modern. If you're red, you're playing this card.

Scrying Sheets

Although turned off by Blood Moon , this card is a major card advantage outlet. It allows you to peel lands off the top so you can continue to draw into gas.

Skred

The Tarmogoyf of removal spells. This spell grows as the game goes on, and allows you to remove the big boys of modern such as Tasigur, the Golden Fang and Gurmag Angler , while also being good on turn 1 in order to kill mana dorks such as Birds of Paradise and Noble Hierarch .

Snow-Covered Mountain

Our main land. We play these over regular mountains because of the synergy with Skred and Scrying Sheets . Even with Blood Moon on the field, these remain snow-covered, as they're basic lands. Also, keeps the snow tag even if hit with Spreading Seas .
