Hey, I'm thinking about building a similar deck.
I was thinking about adding Corrosive Mentor, giving all your black insect tokens wither. In other words, when they die and put a -1-1 counter on a creature, Nest of Scarabs creates a new token. I've been playing around for a few days now and I've found that Coat of Arms is deadly when you have the corrosive mentor and nest of scarabs in play.

Your mana curve is quite high, if you'd have manaproblems you could always consider Cryptolith Rite

As of yet I haven't had any mana problems, but that'll be in my consideration if such a problem arises.

I see you're all about minus-counters, but i just can't leave Scute Mob unmentioned here. Besides this: looks fun. I'd be the last to suggest any expensive fetchlands, but a playset of Terramorphic Expanse or Evolving Wilds wouldn't hurt.

seshiro_of_the_orochi thanks for the suggestions. While Scute Mob is a good card, I'm not sure it would fit in perfectly with my deck. As for those lands, I'm curious as to the benefit those would give me over just adding more basic lands to my deck, as I've never found a fitting use for them.

Manafixing is what you call this. It prevents you from not having access to both your colours of mana. The two mentioned lands are quite good at doing this, usually at the end of your opponent's turn.

So seeing that you want to play this at FNM in modern, I'm gonna say that this likely isn't good enough to expect to win. First thing is that your mana curve is very high, and you run no mana ramp. A lot of the cards you're using are very new. And it's not that they're not good, but there is a lot stronger stuff in modern because it goes all the way back to the 8th edition. Just a few examples of cards that would shut down your entire plan - Maelstrom Pulse, Zealous Persecution (would kill all of your 1/1 tokens), Anger of the Gods, Pyroclasm, Wrath of God... Problem with your wither creature, which seems to be what your plan runs off of, it's killed by Lightning Bolt, Dreadbore, Abrupt Decay, it's hit by Thoughtseize and Inquisition of Kozilek... Any counterspell will stop you. Other decks that don't run removal (specifically a lot of mono green decks or green white decks) can just sideboard in Melira, Sylvok Outcast. I think you'd have a much better time in a standard setting running this deck.
I know this makes modern sound scary, but it really isn't! Are you new to magic? Maybe I can help you think of a deck you'd like to play and help you build it. I have a range of modern decks that I play and I'm very willing to help you think of budget versions of some. Let me know!

icehit6 Not super new to magic, been around playing on and off since 2013. While it sounds like a good idea to prepare something else for play in modern, I'd still like to prepare a way to make this deck playable in modern as I'm a fan of the Nest of Scarabs combo.

Alright well in order to make this work, you're gonna have to spend some money for it. An infinite token combo is kinda what you want in order to win, and realistically you're going to want to run black green white instead of just black green. White adds protection and other good creatures to the mix.
Some cards you're going to have to add in:
As well, in order to run all those infinite combos (I'm sure you can figure those out!!) effectively, you need to mana fix. Marsh Flats, Windswept Heath and Verdant Catacombs will be mandatory, as well as running Overgrown Tomb, Temple Garden, and Godless Shrine. Maybe a mix of other dual lands and a few basics in there too.
As for protection and control, you are going to need Thoughtseize, Inquisition of Kozilek, Abrupt Decay, Path to Exile, and Fatal Push. Sideboard can likely be worked out. That's the only way I see this deck working, though.

landofMordor Golgari Charm can regenerate every creature in my graveyard? That sounds like an amazing card to add so that I can get my -1/-1 creatures back into the field and get more tokens. As for Blossoming Defense, I have a similar function with Echoing Courage but I suppose that could work just as well.

Not quite on Golgari Charm (I wish, though). It only works on creatures on the battlefield. The official rules text is "regenerate means the next time this creature would be destroyed, it isn't. Instead, tap it and remove all damage from it and remove it from combat." So it only works on creatures on the battlefield, but it'll save your team from some boardwipes and spot removal
