Sideboard


New to deck building in MTG, thanks to Arena for getting me started in the game in general. Please let me know if there's any glaring issues, and what you would change and why. Any help is greatly appreciated.

How you win: Exile enough cards to kill with Kaya's -5 or through Patient Rebuilding mill, or Ethereal Absolution Tokens.

Syncopate to add cards to exile without activating Kaya or using Ethereal Absolution's ability.
Revitalize to help cycle and keep your health up.
Moment of Craving to stay healthy and deny ramp or board presence.
Sinister Sabotage to manipulate draws.
Cry of the Carnarium for early board clear.
Mortify for Ixalan's Binding and Wilderness Reclamation, or scary threats.
Settle the Wreckage for big board wipes and Carnage Tyrant hate.
Chemister's Insight... draw more cards.
Vraska's Contempt is just too good for removing problems and adding more to exile for Kaya.
Cleansing Nova for general non-land, non-planeswalker hate.
Patient Rebuilding for more Kaya +1 fodder, and card draw.
Teferi's just too good not to include.
Ethereal Absolution for and alternate wincon, and token generation hate.
Kaya for Phoenix, Jump-start, and Golgari hate. While giving you more life to work with and getting to -5 for a good bit a damage if you've been using Contempt, and Syncopate a bit throughout the game, along with her +1.

Updates Add

I've replaced Golden Demise with Cry of the Carnarium to straight up exile X/2 creatures. I initially thought that I'd benefit more if they went to graveyard so I could +1 Kaya to gain life versus aggressive opponents. However, it seems that just having them be in exile deals with Golgari and Sultai Midrange a bit better and I'm not guaranteed to get the extra life from Kaya's +1 in the aggressive match up.

With that said, I've added 2x Deputy of Detention to the sideboard to help deal with those aggressive match-ups. Exiling a nonland permanent (and those with the same name) and providing a blocker helps a lot here. I might up it to a 4x inclusion.

I've removed 1x Ethereal Absolution and 1x Chemister's Insight for 2x Psychic Corrosion. This is to accelerate the game plan versus control. Control will often counter them if they hit their 3rd land on turn 3, but in the case of us going first they'll often only be holding a Revitalize, or Radical Idea when playing versus Izzet Drakes/Phoenixes.
