Varakna, the deepest tar-swamp in Jund. The home of Gyrus, Waker of Corpses.

This deck is what I would consider a "Fair" Reanimator deck. This deck is fast and utilizes tons of brutal ETB abilities. I consider it "Fair" because once I have a creature in the graveyard, if I plan to reanimate them with Gyrus I only get to bring back a token copy of the creature that exiles at the end of combat. (Because Gyrus grinds up the critters to the point they can never be used again) Therefore I can't keep bringing back the same broken a** creatures every single turn. Yes, I'm looking at you Spore Frog! That being said, being "Fair" isn't always fun so of course I included other ways to bring back and keep my critters and ways to double or quadruple my tokens and/or triggers just to make sure I can keep the upper hand. I looked through way more cards than I want to admit to come up with my final card choices and as you all know commander decks are always changing so please let me know if you think there are better card choices and drop me a +1 if you like the deck!
These are ways to kill your opponents with only Gyrus and one other creature.

Gyrus with three +1/+1 counters and Master of Cruelties Show

Gyrus with three +1/+1 counters and a +1/+1 fatty Show

Gyrus with six +1/+1 counters and Angrath's Marauders Show

Let me know if you know of any more one shot kills!

  • Advantage: I may think of a better name for this category but for now it's just cards that don't fit anywhere else. the only thing I could think of that they have in common is they give me an advantage.
  • Doublers: These cards will double +1 counters, loyalty counters, and/or triggered abilities and if you have multiple of any of these on the battlefield at the same time things start to get crazy... but not for very long because I will kill everyone or they will all gang up on me and kill me...
  • Dredge: Yes I know not all the cards in this category have dredge I just think "Dredge" sounds better than "Graveyard Putter Inners"
  • Finishers: These are my game winners. In theory, if any of these hit the table and aren't immediately dealt with at least one player is going to die right then and there.
  • Haste: These are my haste enablers since I want to start swinging with everything I have right away.
  • Lands: You guessed it, lands are in this category. One thing to take note of is many of these lands serve dual purpose, they of course make my much needed mana but they may also do a bunch of other awesome things. Just pray there is no Blood Moon in your opponents deck...
  • Ramp: These cards are very important to an explosive start. This deck is more of an "Aggro Reanimator" so speed is important.
  • Recursion: The lifeblood of this deck. These are all they ways I can get nasty threats out without having to pay their mana costs.
  • Removal: Very important. Get rid of threats.
  • Tutors: Get what I need, when I need it.

Thank you to (your name here) for featuring this deck!

YOU can be immortalized in this decks description FOREVER, all you have to do is feature the deck on the main page and let me know!

Updates Add

it is with a heavy heart that I retire this deck to try out a new commander. I don't like to keep too many decks of the same color combination so I am taking this one apart to use the parts for my next Jund project, Korvold, the Fae-Cursed King. I'm still waiting for the perfect Jund commander to come out and maybe I'll get something amazing in this coming year with all the new awesome commander products coming out! Until then I'll be trying this deck out for a bit:
