Mono Blue big creatures, getting enough mana to assemble your large creatures with countermagic back up. The deck looks to get to the late game quickly though ramp and draw effects, using Thassa to smooth out your early game draws using her scry ability. The deck relies on individually powerful or impactful cards, less so on synergistic cards, and using them as much as possible through the use of the multiple copy effects in the deck.

While the deck can play the role of the control deck in a pinch (it has the countermagic to do so), its countermagic package is mostly there to protect your board and keep things from getting out of hand. Save exile counterspells (Dissipate and friends) for recursive cards that will make the game a headache for you, or for individually powerful cards that will derail the game. Late game big tempo swings involving developing a large army out of nothing are your power play.

The deck relies on Thassa early game, as she supplements the smaller draw package, so losing her her random counterspells or exile removal early can hurt. There are some cards that are relics of the deck's previous builds, and some cards are being run purely for flavor (Vexing Scuttler is probably worse than Achaeomancer, but it's a giant crab!). The deck can also go infinite using other people's decks: Chancellor of the Spires can copy Rite of Replication from someone else to make infinite creatures, stealing Planar Portal lets you Beacon of Tomorrows every turn.
