Teysa, Death Doubler

Commander / EDH WB (Orzhov)

Maybeboard

This deck involves getting value from sacrificing our creatures. Teysa Karlov doubles our death triggers, which allows us to get a bunch more value.

The game plan is essentially:
- Play stuff that cares when creatures die.
- Make the creatures die.
- Value.

The deck wants to have things to sacrifice. Teysa Karlov also gives tokens Vigilance & Lifelink, which means our tokens we create are also stronger. In order to feed our value engines, we play cards that create bodies when they die, or other cards that create tokens when things die.

Notable cards include:
- Ministrant of Obligation, Doomed Traveler, Tithe Taker - Creatures that give us bodies when they die are great, as we get double when they die!
- Requiem Angel, Field of Souls, Xathrid Necromancer - Lots of death triggers equal lots of tokens.
- Anointed Procession - Doubling our token creation? Yes please!

To be able to make our stuff die, we don't want to rely on other people killing our creatures. We have a multitude of sacrifice outlets to ensure that we can make our own stuff die and get those sweet, sweet triggers.

Notable cards include:
- Ashnod's Altar - Free sacrifice outlet that creates mana. What's not to love?
- Yawgmoth, Thran Physician - Free sacrifice outlet that puts a -1/-1 counter on a creature(killing more creatures) and that draws cards? VALUE!
- Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim, Teysa, Orzhov Scion - Sacrifice outlets that remove problematic creatures? Brilliant!

Finally, the good stuff! When stuff dies, we don't want it to die for no reason! We have lots of different ways of generating value when stuff dies.

Notable cards include:
- Dictate of Erebos - When one of our creatures die, our opponents have to sacrifice two!
- Grim Haruspex, Midnight Reaper, Liliana, Dreadhorde General - Drawing cards from our creatures dieing? Yes please.
- Bastion of Remembrance, Cruel Celebrant, Zulaport Cutthroat - Why wait around for opponents to die when we can drain their life?

We want our creatures to die, but sometimes they die before they needed to. How about we bring them back?

Notable cards include:
- Athreos, God of Passage - Want to kill our creatures? That's fine, pay a heavy price, or we'll have them back.
- Dusk / Dawn - Returns a bunch of value creatures to the battlefield.
- Rally the Ancestors - Returns a bunch of creatures back to the battlefield for a single turn.

Unfortunately for us, opponents are also trying to go about their game plan. Sometimes they need kicking down a notch, or if it's worse, a board wipe will be needed. Don't worry about wiping the board though, our death triggers will make sure we get value from it.

Notable cards include:
- Path to Exile, Swords to Plowshares - Staple white removal.
- Anguished Unmaking, Utter End - Excellent W/B removal.
- Kaya's Wrath - Destroy all creatures and gain life for our creatures? Not bad.
- Dusk / Dawn - Destroys a decent amount of creatures and avoids hitting Teysa Karlov and other important creatures we use.

As well as running cards that work well with our commander, we run W/B staples that are great in the deck too.

Notable cards include:
- Karmic Guide + Reveillark - Staple combo that can infinitely recur each other, plus another creature. Works even more effectively with Teysa in play. Have any Blood Artist effect on the board and you win.
- Smothering Tithe - Opponents want to draw cards? That's fine, they can pay for it!

Suggestions

Updates Add

Swiftfoot Boots -> Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim Good sacrifice outlet, can be used as removal. Haste/protection not too important.

Gate to the Afterlife -> Liliana, Dreadhorde General Lili is just an amazing card for the deck. Better card draw, creates token, makes people sacrifice. And if I ever get the ult off, the game is pretty much mine.

Charcoal Diamond -> Revel in Riches Unsure if I need the ramp. Revel is in mostly for fun. Will probably replace later

Marble Diamond -> Fellwar Stone Comes in untapped, taps for multiple.

Grand Abolisher -> Dreadhorde Invasion Don't feel like I need the protection from Abolisher. Possible reconsider if I cut other things. Dreadhorde is a poor man's Bitterblossom

Sultai Emissary -> Athreos, God of Passage Have a lot of 1 creature fodder. Athreos could provide more value if I can get creatures back.

Hunted Witness -> Kaya's Wrath Another 1 creature fodder for something more useful, need another board wipe.
