In Yasovas Russia, Deck plays You

Commander / EDH Aikido Artifact Multiplayer RUG (Temur)

A fun to play deck I create for my GF with some unusual cards. Basically it should be easy to play and have enough interaction and variety to be fun again and again. She already has a Meren of Clan Nel Toth-Deck she loves, but a bit more to choose from is nice and I wanted this to be some sort of budget beside what I already have. A lot of stealing is going on here, it is intentional that the deck works with and without the commander and has a lot of good stuff in it without loosing the focus like a goodstuff deck. And there is an artifact subtheme. Well...

I love Inspiring Statuary in here. Thada Adel, Acquisitor (which can be unblockable) is providing more stuff for it beside my equipment double as pseudo-mana with improvise. That is also the reason why I chose Spawning Pit over other sac-outlets since it creates artifact tokens that can double as pseudo mana-rocks including the pit itself. I'm actually considering Lifespark Spellbomb - I'm serious ;) It is a janky way I can pseudo-remove lands I don't want in play, can sac it for a card if not needed, makes mana since it is an artifact and it won't take up the space of lands a Strip Mine would. And I could use the stolen land once if it is good. I'll likely replace some equipment with Bloodforged Battle-Axe, suggestions?

I use the Maybeboard for cards to remember and consider. +1 and suggest cards if you want to. =)

I wish I could give this deck +2 just for the name. Awesome list.

Strionic Resonator doubles the ability of Yasova and Thada Adel and should definitely be in. If your GF likes Thada Adel i have a deck with her as the commander that's a lot of fun, Serial Shoplifting.

You have to be able to break through shroud/hexproof. Arcane Lighthouse or artifact destruction maybe? Hellkite Tyrant can steal all the boots/greaves and fits with the stealing theme. Cultural Exchange can steal Shrouded creatures because it targets the player, not the creature.

Blade of Selves could be pretty funny and destroys a legendary if that's your goal.

City of Shadows could be another sac outlet but you seem to have plenty of those already.

Crivaro, I've run a Yasova deck before and it's a powerhouse. Something you should really consider is Xenagos, God of Revels. What you're going to want to do is pump Yasova up a ton so you can gain control of almost anything on the battlefield, than during the beginning of combat on your turn give her +X/+X with Xenagos so you can take control of even more stuff.

This solves two problems at once; If you're lacking in pumps, he can be a swift boost that you need. And if you're low on creatures, he's an Indestructible tank.

Another beautiful God is Kruphix, God of Horizons. Sit back and tap your mana and pool it all together into one big colorless clump. When it comes time during the beginning of your combat phase, dump all of the colorless to pay for the cost, so that you can free up your mana base for more costs. Essentially, if you plan right, you can open up approximately 30% more mana since you no longer need to tap for that . And again, you get another Indestructible tank.

Interesting ideas, thank you so much! I have both, I will test both a couple of times. It seems fun! Included them in the maybeboard. =)

Sundial of the infinite will let you keep your opponent's creatures, kinda like willbreaker.

Crivaro says... #18

Sadly not. Sundial's ability will even 'shortening' the control effect from Yasova's second ability. Because Yasova's ability give you a control effect "until end of turn" and Sundial's ability make "end of turn" happens earlier than normal. :/

I highly recommend adding more sac outlets so that even if your opponent's remove one, you have others to fall back on. Not to mention it would help ensure you actually draw into any of them.

Goblin Bombardment has a low CMC and minor impact, but is a pretty solid option for using with Yasova on curve.

Greater Good can be an absolute powerhouse that can provide you with a ridiculous amount of gas as long as your opponents don't deal with it instantly.

Ashnod's Altar / Phyrexian Altar can help alleviate the mana intensive nature of Yasova's ability every turn, which sounds pretty good to me.

Altar of Dementia is not my favorite choice, but if you are playing in a Timmy heavy meta where people like to drop fat creatures, this can serve as a somewhat effective win con.

Now I'm not saying you should add all of these, but I would definitely consider adding at least two of them. The deck looks fun and your deck naming game is on point!

Thank you very much, Teal_Fox! =) Yes, I've considered some of these for a while now. I know how important sac outlets are in Commander, but I (at least until now) haven't missed one in a game. I'm considering Grafted Wargear (instead of Hero's Blade) as an outlet to sac for stolen stuff ATM because it can also pump my commander if need be, but I don't like the sorcery speed on it...

I'll keep an eye out for your suggestions. Whenever the need arises I will consider some of them. I'm also interested in your opinion on what to cut! =)

Bonehoard looks like the first card I would cut, as it is fairly mana intensive but you don't really seem to run cards to support that kind of game plan (namely, mill).

Homura, Human Ascendant also seems a bit heavy on CMC without providing enough benefit for this deck, because while it powers up Yasova, there are plenty of alternatives that don't require as much set up.

Eternal Scourge, which while it has a neat interaction with Food Chain, simply seems like it would be a dead draw most of the time.

Demonmail Hauberk suffers the same issues that Grafted Wargear does, as sorcery speed leaves much to be desired and requires you to always have multiple creatures out if you want to use it as a psuedo-sac outlet.

Berserk has me on the fence, because while it can help push for damage in some games, I feel that Eldritch Evolution would be an overall better one shot spell that generates value.

Keep in mind that these are only my impressions of the cards. If you find that some have proven time and again to carry the deck or are simply too fun, I'd highly recommend keeping them.

I just included another Sac-outlet, description above (Spawning Pit).

Bonehoard won me 3 games. Although he doesn't look like much, he is incredible to a point I'd have never imagined. This was never a dead card and can function on its own.

Homura has me on the fence - as you ut it with something else. It is possible he will go for Memnarch or something else. I don't know yet, but I'd love a good buff on a stick here that will stick.

Eternal scourge is something I want to try. Never got to play with this in, but if it doesn't work this will be easy to cut. Even as a blocker, with Mimic Vat and exiling it I can play him again and just grab the next thing in the vat that dies.

Demonmail Hauberk is way better than Grafted Wargear simply how it is worded. I can sac other things to equip the same creature (Yasova) again and again. This isn't possible with the other one since it would die. It doubles as a buff, too. And +4/+2 pushing Yasova to 8 power is very noteworthy.

Berserk will stay. I had a Blood Frenzy in before and knew I wanted a Berserk at some point. It not only works on each creature but my Yasova only dies if it attacks. So it can give +4/+0 and won't kill the creature if it doesn't attack. Also, it is destruction and not sacrifice, which can be important sometimes. Eldritch Evolution is nice, but no match for Birthing Pod here.

Last of all I'm completely with you on the fun part. This isn't meant to be competitive, but fun in multiplayer games. It heavily depends on the board state and proved to be very adaptive to problems.

Next few things most likely to change are Dack's Duplicate that will likely be replaced by Altered Ego / Aura Thief and Hero's Blade that will definately make room for another equipment in the Maybeboard. Either Fabricate or Whir of Invention will see places in the deck at some point, too. Academy Ruins will be in there, too; but there have to be more 'any color' lands to fix stuff (they will likely replace Lotus Vale).

Suggestions? =)
