Sideboard

Maybeboard

This is my first attempt on a Group HUG deck. The general idea of the deck is as follows:

  • No infinite combo

  • Everyone must have fun

  • No overpowered 1 card kill

  • I want to win as well

So, having that in mind, we learned now know that this is not a 1v1 commander deck by playtesting. If you try, it most likely will fail pretty hard at it.

Strategies

  • Keep in mind that every card you play, if it affects more than one player, you must be the one who takes the most advantage of it. Untaping lands, producing extra mana and drawing extra cards are all examples which you'll most likely always get the most out of it.

  • You can help a player that's dying and can't recover go gain a pseudo-ally on the game. People tend to remember this kind of action.

  • Give resources to people that have less resources and they'll be thankful.

Mainboard, Sideboard, Maybeboard

Well, I think I need some clarification on how I use those boards.

  • Mainboard: my currently decklist. This is how I'm playing the deck right now.

  • Sideboard: are cards that I'd really like to put in but I don't know if it's 100% worth it, or are cards that I'm going to put in but I haven't them yet.

  • Maybeboard: cards here I have considered in the past to put in the deck or are here just for other player's reference. Most cards here can be seen as budget cards.

OMG the game is:

  • Boring: throw card drawing at everyone! Or put a Chaos card on the battlefield! Or combine draw and Hypergenesis and watch the game explode!

  • Slow: cards and Mana ramp for everyone! There are plenty of options!

  • Fast: this is how the game should be on this deck.

  • Too Fast: ooops, things are running out of control! Try one of the Wipes available!

Insights:

So, I'd like to share my insights after playing this deck for a while:

  • People tend to respect this deck: it's a good idea, and it works.

  • People have some fear of this deck: since I'm running some pretty strong creature cards, people fear that at any time things will run out of control.

  • People tend to not attack you while it's convenient: since you are helping other players as well, they will not attack you ASAP.

  • People will kill you if you lay down your weapons: normally, the game reaches a point where you have 40-50 mana on the pool without emptying. You'll be able to draw or play 5-7 cards on that turn, and be prepared.

  • People tend to slow down the game with too many resources: while you'll get used to the deck after the 10-20th game, other people will never get used to having 3-5 cards being drawn every turn, having access to 30+ mana.

  • Some people will always target you: some people just don't fit into previous descriptions, and having a great fear of what might come, if they know your deck, they'll just kill you right away.

Suggestions

Updates Add

So, I've removed a bunch of unused cards from the decklist, and added a few to sideboard, while removing from the maybe. I've also updated the description, and I'l like to clarify a few things:

  • Sands of Delirium and Blue Sun's Zenith: Those cards are great. But they allow me to kill a player in the late game without any fun. So, those cards have been removed.

  • Overwhelming Stampede: I think this card is just too powerful for this deck. I have 5-7 creatures on the battlefield, and I can kill 1-2 players with it.

  • War Tax: I wish this card be "Creatures can't attack target oponnent unless they pay for each attacking creature." Since this is not the case, nobody respects the idea of this card, thinking I'm all mighty and powerful. So it gets removed.

  • Zur's Weirding: Nobody get's to draw anything. It's boring and favor whoever has the better board when this card is cast.

  • Eye of the Storm: This generates too much delay into the game, and the chaos is just to big. I might add it back, but maybe Hive Mind is a better call.
