My take on Angler Delver. For some reason it reminds me of Ron Swanson: strong, judgmental, and not afraid to tell it like it is. But there are down sides: it comes with all of Ron's life flaws.

Overwhelming, and the driving force behind it all.
Counterspell is Ron's further attempt to halt all things government.
The smug look of a control player is the same as Ron's smug look at government shut downs.
Duress , Gitaxian Probe and Ostracize are all representative of Ron's ability to read people.
Uncomfortable when you're at the other end of it.
Victim of Night , Murder and Disfigure ...
Self explanatory.
Ponder is Ron's alter-ego: Duke Silver!
Keeping things mysterious, yet exciting!
And finally: Thought Scour and Mental Note are Ron's precious whisky Lagavulin:
Fueling the action from start to finish.
