Typical Competitive EDH Karador Boonweaver list. This is the list I run in paper EDH. Here are the win cons:

  • Infinite sacs to Altar of Dementia for mill.
  • Infinite sacs with Blood Artist out
  • Destroy or lock enemy lands with Living Plane + Elesh Norn or Linvala (respectively)

There are a lot of ways to get infinite sacs with an unrestricted sac outlet:

  • Saffi + Karmic Guide
  • Saffi + Sun Titan
  • Saffi + Loyal Retainers**
  • Saffi + Reveilark*
  • Fiend Hunter + Karmic Guide
  • Karmic Guide + Reveilark*
  • Boonwevaer into Fiend Hunter + Karmic Guide + Reveilark*+
  • Boonweaver into Saffi + Karmic Guide + Reveilark*+

Combos marked with a single asterisk all have Reveilark and thus can get extraneous creatures which can be important if you need to kill a Platinum Angel with Reclamation Sage, or get a Grand Abolisher or whatever. The combo with a double asterisk doesn't require a sac outlet on the one hand, but on the other hand it can only kill with Blood Artist and not Altar of Dementia. The combos marked with a plus sign can be assembled simply by getting Boonweaver out into play, attaching Pattern of Rebirth, then sacking.

Specific replacements that need to eventually happen:

  • More expensive enemy colored fetch lands (bit of a luxury)
  • Expensive rocks (Mana Crypt is a luxury; Mox Diamond is both a luxury and possibly not necessary; Mox Opal is certainly doable and I might get that soon)
  • Dark Confidant (solid draw engine)
  • MAYBE Containment Priest (works well vs Breya Gorger combo and Selvala, not so well vs other decks and it can also really screw myself over too.
  • Caustic Caterpillar when I feel like I've found a slot for it; gotta test my other flex cards out first though.

Flex slots that might get cut for better things. I've listed them from biggest flex to smallest.

  • Chancellor of the Annex (this is a new flex slot card replacing Iona-- can't wait to test this out and see how much work it does in my opening hand! ...Although realistically, it won't do much work, and I'll probably sub in a Caustic Caterpillar or Iona again. I'm willing to keep my hopes up though.)
  • Gaddock Teeg (most >=4cmc or x spells in my group are either Ad Naus or in the Selvala or JVP decks, and this doesn't really slow down JVP significantly. Overall I'm not too sold on this one and I'm probably looking to cut this as one of the first things. I know it's anathema to talk down on the Teeg but until GAAIV becomes more than just a niche deck at my tables I don't really care for Teeg.)
  • Tidehollow Sculler (I've had a flex slot for a while and finally settled on this bad boy to fill it and it's done some work for me; turns out exiling things like Doomsday is pretty good, and with the fact that it has separate ETB/LTB triggers makes it especially good if you want a permanent solution. With that said, it's still a flex slot and is among the most likely to get the cut if something else needs to be put in.)
  • Phyrexian Revoker (I sometimes like drawing this card since it hates out almost anything, but I don't like tutoring for it since it's so narrow in scope. Also it's super vulnerable to tons of removal, being an artifact creature.)
  • Hushwing Gryff (it semi-hates most decks in my meta incl. Tazri, Breya and Selvala; but it doesn't full-hate anything. It's tempting to keep it in but I might not.)
  • Captain Sisay (gives me a high-value GSZ target, assembles wincons, gets some of my best hate, gets me things if I'm getting locked out via stax, overall I'm really impressed with how much work this guy can put in but it's not a high priority keep.)
  • Recruiter of the Guard (this card is good, yes, but maybe not as good as it seems, and it might be something worth considering getting the axe)
  • Sanctum Prelate (I really fucking love this lil gal since my meta is so predictable and I know everyone's decks. She's considered a flex slot but, like, not really.)
  • Aura Shards (I once significantly slowed down a game when the only things I had at my disposal were Aura Shards, Living Plane, and some lands. That was like, way too exciting for me. With that said, Aura Shards is amazing but also sort of slow? It's worth reconsidering, maybe. It's one of those cards that if it lasts a turn it can win the game on its own, but how often is it gonna last a turn?)
  • Nature's Claim (I prefer this over Caustic Caterpillar by the slimmest margin because it lets me deal with Humility and I like that it's cheaper to cast. Biggest downside is that it gives me no answer for Silence->Food Chain whereas Caustic Caterpillar does. Realistically, I should try to run both Nature's Claim and Caustic Caterpillar.)
