Since I'm not a fan of modern being an aggro-format, I try to play always midrange/control-stuff. At the moment, I'm planing to move in the direction of lantern control. Maybe not the best deck, but it's fun to play, which is way more important than high win-rates (at least from my perspective). So here we go...

At the moment I'm testing with splashing blue or red. Black and Green is fixed for the moment. Cause of Covid and because I'm not the biggest fan of MTGO, the tests will take some time.

Because I'm testing a lot at the moment, the following stuff is maybe not always up-to-date!

The mana-base

• 3x Simian Spirit Guide as a replacement for Mox Opal UPDATE: SSG is banned, doin' some testing...

• 4x Glimmervoid and 4x Spire of Industry help to find the right colours

• Buried Ruin is my budget-replacement for card:Academy of Ruins, but I'll buy "the right one" soon

• 5 basic lands (3x Swamp, 1x Forest, 1x Island/Mountain)

• 2x Llanowar Wastes

• 2x Inventors' Fair helps to find the pieces and is a lifegain-option

Hand Disruption / Removal

I'm playing some budget-spells here. Harsh Scrutiny , Inquisition of Kozilek , Duress , Cast Down and Fatal Push are my choices at the moment. Extirpate is a nice budget-replacement for Surgical Extraction . Maelstrom Pulse is on my list as a replacement for Assassin's Trophy .

Finding the pieces

Blue version: 2x Emry, Lurker of the Loch

Red version: 2x Goblin Engineer
