Hey all, thanks for checking out the deck.
This is a deck I will be play testing and running at SCG Dallas in a few weeks. This deck looks like a lot of fun and I am curious to see how it will do.
The main goal is to build a decent board presence while keeping them off their own creatures using sacrifice abilities and Dictate of Erebos. Cartel Aristocrat can also get some protection and constantly wear down the enemy until they find a way deal with it. Blood Bairn can also get nasty running with Mogis's Marauder. You can get it pretty big if you have a decent amount of humans out with Xathrid Necromancer. Return to the Ranks is in there to bring back Soldier of the Pantheon, Cartel Aristocrat and Pack Rat.
Everyone should know the value Pack Rat has in standard lately. While there are a lot of answers to it early on, bringing it back with Return to the Ranks puts the enemy in an awkward situation in games that go the distance, especially if they have used most of their removal suite.
Liliana Vess can help search for a finisher such as Obzedat,Ghost Council , or help me fish for Dictate of Erebos to get the sacrifice combos going.
Brimaz, King of Oreskos is used to have a nice three drop but to also bring in 1/1's you can use as sac outlets for your bigger creatures, or to chump block if needed. I will be testing him a lot to see if he adds value to the deck, if not then I'll have to find a replacement 3 drop.
I really feel that Nighthowler is best suited in a deck like this where you can feed both graveyards creatures. I have a few removal spells and can also use Dictate of Erebos to help put enemy creatures in the graveyard so I would like to try and make room for maybe a 2 of.
Obzedat, Ghost Council is a great finisher and I feel like once he comes down it would put a big clock on my opponent.
Spear of Heliod is a great tool for finishing off creatures with evasion and/or pumping my creatures up to increase the clock a little bit.
I will also be testing spirit bonds, but not sure where I could find the room besides Spear of Heliod.
I am looking for constructive criticism and/or feedback as always. If you play test against this deck, please let me know the outcome. On paper this deck seems very solid and I can't wait to see it in action. Thanks for checking it out, I look forward to your suggestions!
