Description

Here is the updated version of this deck! I worked quite hard to make it the best I could after a long break from the game. Obviously combos haven't changed much since it is still a land destruction Avacyn, Angel of Hopefoil icon deck! But some new cards have it into this deck, and so far with all the testing I am very pleased!

A notable change in the deck through the years. With all the new cards released, and just playing against tons of variety locally in EDH I feel EDH has become A LOT more fast paced then it was when I made this deck, and with this new version I went more control focused instead of life gain focused because of the speed in change, and the deck still has a ton of life gain so still got it just toned it down for more control cards!

Big thanks to everyone who has given me great suggestions! Also BIG BIG thanks to ZombieCat for all the great suggestions, considering almost every suggestion he has thrown my way has ended up in the deck :D

Also check out a fellow disgustingly scary good Avacyn, Angel of Hope deck by fellow Avacyn, Angel of Hope lover ZombieCat

Also big shout out to Ender666666 for the suggestion of Mana Web this card is actually one of the biggest key cards in the deck. It is a filthy card..... I am forever in dept to this suggestion as Mana Web has won me more games then any other card in the deck.

Hey guys just cleared comments for new suggestions based around MY META! This should make it hopefully easier to find good cuts/suggestions/feedback, etc. Please look at the update "My Meta" to see the commanders played regularly at my local shop. Of course that isn't ALL the commanders at my shop but they are the commanders my friends run, and our most consistent players at our shop play however there are tons more but these are the commanders I play against the most so please before making suggestions/cuts look at that list! Thank you :)

Hallowed Moonlight or Containment Priest would be good. They would shut down Kaalia and Mayael and any infinite token strategies.

Containment Priest would be really good will look into it!

Hey man! Thanks for the upvote on my deck :) Your deck has always been an inspiration to me! Anywho, on to the suggestions!

I see nothing but combo decks in your Meta. A couple cards that just shut them down are Eidolon of Rhetoric, Curse of Exhaustion, and Rule of Law. Basically, turn your deck into a mono-white Hatebear machine!

Best of luck!

MrAwesomeSocks Thank you for the suggestions. I use to run Rule of Law and unfortunately it didn't do well as it was also limiting me, and making games very uh slow, and eventually either it made it hard for me to actually win as well, or it made me loose. Maybe I miss played it? I am not sure. However the other 2 cards look useful. I prefer a card that shuts MY opponent down instead of everyone including me. So I will look into Curse of Exhaustion specifically but we will see! Thank you!

You could make you deck disgustingly OP and add an Isochron Scepter, but then I don't think people would want to play against you anymore.

Aethaleon So either I am not seeing it, or I am just a derp but how would Isochron Scepter make nobody want to play against me. Dont get me wrong sick card, and actually would be really good in my deck but tell me the crazy op thing your seeing I am not? :o

Well, let me revise that comment a little. You would also need Unwinding Clock to go with the scepter. With those two cards in play, you imprint Silence, then you can cast silence every turn, so your opponents would never get to play anything, unless it's at instant speed.

I do a similar thing with Elite Arcanist and Time Stop whenever someone draws my ire. Then I end their turn during their upkeep, so they don't even get to draw.

Not only that, you could get the scepter and clock online trun 2 provided you have a Sol Ring.

Aethaleon I like the combo a lot. It definitely would be disgusting. Uh so I like Unwinding Clock a lot it would go really well in controlling the game with a specific card in my maybeboard which is Mishra's Helix as long as I have the ramp on the board I can either control or lower my opponents access to there mana base ESPECIALLY if I have Mana Web on the field so Unwinding Clock is a great addition with or without Isochron Scepter. Isochron Scepter is solid however if I don't have any of my low cost instants in my hand it is basically useless LUCKILY it works with every instant I have except for one so it is definitely solid. If I am correct to Unwinding Clock will work with Grim Monolith so I could literally have it untapped for free basically. I might not add Isochron Scepter because it can end up being a dead draw considering I have exactly 5 cards for it to work with BUT I will definitely give it a solid shot, BUT Unwinding Clock definitely will somehow eventually be added, and if possible I would like to add Grim Monolith, and Mishra's Helix as well as it would work so disgustingly well with these cards if I am correct.... if I am wrong about Grim Monolith then well its still good but not as sickening as I hoped. But I definitely want to add Unwinding Clock

Unwinding Clock untaps all artifacts you control on your opponent's untap steps, so it would untap Grim Monolith and Mana Vault if you choose to run them. I usually have Unwinding Clock and Prototype Portal in the same deck, as they have perfect synergy. Remember, I told you you could imprint your Ancient Den onto Prototype Portal, so you could make a land on everyone's turn for free if you have Unwinding Clock in the deck too.

Aethaleon yeah. The problem I am finding with Unwinding Clock testing it with a friend as we speak is it only works well with a small handful of the 100 cards in this deck, and if I have a game with none of my tap artifacts it is a completely dead draw. That's my issue with cards like this. When they require more cards just to make things happen it's hard to add them. I rather add something like Defense Grid that just works without any other cards. Unwinding Clock is only good if I have other cards to support it. It works well when I have other cards to support it but without em it's completely useless so I am not sure it will make it. Actually Defense Grid is looking to be the star card (aside from Mind's Eye to be added) to make it into the deck. Good idea but requires to many cards to be useful.

The clock would untap your Ancient Den every turn, allowing you to always have at least one mana to pay into Mind's Eye. Once you put in Mind's Eye, you'll be getting more cards and won't be affected by drawing the clock for one of those draws. Every turn you should have at least 7 cards in hand or more.

But, if you're really not that into the Unwinding Clock, try using Alhammarret's Archive. It makes all your extra draws double and doubles your life gain. Pay 1 mana into Mind's Eye and draw 2 cards.

Aethaleon Alhammarret's Archive is good but has the same issue as Unwinding Clock it requires other cards to be a useful play/draw. Currently Mind's Eye, and Defense Grid are both good on there own without other cards. Unwinding Clock is solid if I have the cards on the field but if I don't it does nothing, and same goes for Alhammarret's Archive if I don't have ways to gain life on the field, or ways to draw on the field or however it does nothing. Currently I want to only add cards that do something on there own, and don't require other cards for it to be useful unless its more MLD.
