Oh look!... Another Kaalia deck. whoooo. Well, you can go ahead and think that if you like, but Kaalia is and has been my baby before she was even released way back in 2011. For a player that was heavily invested into Blue, this deck was screaming my name. I mean, Angels, Demons, AND Dragons? Ugh... yeah baby ~drool~. Since her release I've built, torn apart, and rebuilt this deck more than any other, and I'm still improving it as best I can. So fawning aside, this is my version of the deck. This is Kaalia's Revenge.

"I'll have my revenge if I have to call on every force from above and below." -Kaalia

  • Angel of Serenity: Spot removal and recursion all in one. She can remove a problem creature or stash your own creatures away before a board wipe.
  • Archangel Avacyn  / Avacyn, the Purifier   : Emergency protection when necessary, or if brought in on Kaalia's trigger can protect her from an opponent's creature that is in the way.
  • Aurelia, the Warleader: More combat phases means more Kaalia triggers and more damage.
  • Avacyn, Angel of Hope: One of the best protection creatures in the game and she just so happens to be an Angel, so there's that...
  • Gisela, Blade of Goldnight : Double damage on everyone else and their toys, half damage on you and everything you control.
  • Archfiend of Depravity: Keep your opponents' board states low for the least amount of disruption against Kaalia.
  • Lord of the Void : Whether you dump him in with Kaalia or they see him coming, 7/7 in the air that steals cards off your opponents' deck is a terrifying sight.
  • Master of Cruelties: Swinging with Kaalia against an opponent with no blockers is instant death with him in hand. His ability will trigger on first strike, Kaalia goes in for the kill.
  • Rakdos, Lord of Riots: You can cheat him in with Kaalia to make all your high CMC creatures cheap (or in Steel Hellkite 's case, free), or you can wait to play him after smacking someone since he has a low CMC. All around win.
  • Rakdos the Defiler: Cheat him in with Kaalia to avoid his ability against you, but once he connects your opponents lose half their board state. Also one of the best creatures to preserve from a Cataclysm style wipe.
  • Balefire Dragon : A pseudo-creature wipe on a stick, few creatures can survive his purge. Combine him with Gisela, Blade of Goldnight and your opponents will take 12 damage and their creatures will take 24.
  • Boltwing Marauder : In Testing - Since his ability lets you target any creature on an ETB, you can choose to boost Kaalia for more general damage, a trampler for more punch through damage, etc.
  • Hellkite Tyrant : Nearly everyone runs Sol Ring or other mana rocks. Even if you don't trigger his "I Win the Game" ability (which you have 15 artifacts to support that), the ability to steal more mana or resources usually feels pretty good.
  • Scourge of the Throne: Same as Aurelia, the Warleader. More combat phases, more Kaalia triggers, more damage. He just gets bigger while you do so...
  • Steel Hellkite : A generic-mana breathing, CMC based board wipe, flying dragon. Feels pretty good. Especially if you can cast him for free from a Rakdos, Lord of Riots
Spot Removal
  • Swords to Plowshares: Single target creature removal. Your damage output will nullify what they gain.
  • Disenchant: Single target artifact/enchantment removal.
  • Anguished Unmaking: A measly 3 life to permanently remove any non-land probelms.
  • Chaos Warp: You can use it on an opponent or you own cards. Problems get removed usually with little risk of good return, you can potentially swap out a mana rock for one of your big fatties.
  • Oblation: Same as Chaos Warp but for card advantage. Best usage is when you have two haste enablers or excessive mana, swap them for additional cards.
Swerve Removal (Can get around standard protection without wiping board)
  • Crackling Doom: 2 damage to each opponent and forces them to ditch their biggest baddie.
  • Council's Judgment : Non-target exile card. Can almost always get rid of a problem card if not two.

  • Fork: Not quite a Counterspell, but it'll do the trick. Use as you best see fit.
  • Yawgmoth's Will: Out of board wipes? Use them again. Get your creatures back, mana rocks, whatever you need Yawgmoth will grant... Get it?... I'll leave now.
  • Sneak Attack: This is your backup Kaalia. Only grants usage for a turn, but most of your creatures hit like a truck anyway and you have plenty of recursion (~cough~ Living Death ~cough~).
  • Amulet of Vigor: Kaalia puts creatures in tapped. This untaps them, but they're still attacking, so you can smack someone and still have a blocker. Also helpful with lands that enter tapped.
  • Scroll Rack: You're running a Land Tax. Once you have your mana base, dig away and shuffle the lands back in for some big ol' nasties.
  • Strionic Resonator: This card is glory. Double Kaalia triggers, double Land Tax, double Aurelia, the Warleader, double Lord of the Void . You get the gist. If this card remains on the field for more than a turn, it can break the game in your favor.
  • Volrath's Stronghold: Pretty straight forward. Creature in grave? Put it back on the top of your deck and reuse it next turn, or better yet, cheat it in with Kaalia.

To wrap this up, I hope you all enjoyed the deck and learned something new about how to use Kaalia. If you did leave a +1 to show I made your day, but if you didn't please leave some suggestions or comments below. Either way thank you for taking the time to look through the deck.

I'm going to be digging out and cleaning up some of my retired decks to see if they can still hold up. Below are any of my decks that are over 5 years old, so please give them a look too! See ya.
