This deck wants to use Sidisi for value, getting extreme value-generating targets into the yard to reanimate and get an early lead, which you can use to spiral into a huge card advantage and eventually, a game winning combo.

The trick is to realize, that Sidisi's Zombies are icing on the cake - they have neat small synergies, enabling Razaketh/Victimize/Soul Exchange/etc, but you should not try to get too cute with them - having the few (2-3) you incidentally generate is more than enough. You will whiff about half the time, but it doesn't matter much The more useful ability you want to focus on is the milling part, getting value pieces in the yard to reanimate or to recur.

Mulliganing: You want to have at least one reanimation spell or a cheap tutor to fetch one in your starting hand. Other than that, you are looking for your colors and ideally a dork to be able to reliably cast Sidisi on turn 3/4.

Early Game: Get your land drops and preferrably ramp (Dorks) and/or small utility pieces (Dark Confidant, Sylvan Library, Mesmeric Orb, etc.). You want to drop Sidisi by turn 4 and possibly get some groundwork laid to ease you into the midgame.

Desirable cards:

  • Mana Ramp/Fixing (Dorks/Life from the Loam)
  • Cheap Card Advantage (Sylvan Library/Dark Confidant)
  • Cheap Mill Engines (Hedron Crab/World Shaper)
  • Cheap Tutors

Mid Game: You ideally want to reanimate at least one value-generating target at the start of the midgame (Jin-Gitaxias/Consecrated Sphinx/Muldrotha/etc), to help you generate a solid card advantage machine. With that, you want to get a few more reanimation cards in hand and mill engines down - since the reanimated pieces tend to draw a lot of hate, you want to be able to follow up with another, once the previous one gets dealt with.

Once you've built sufficient card advantage, you want to start sculpting your hand to be able to execute a win condition in the late game.

Desirable cards:

  • Cheap Reanimation (Reanimate/Victimize/Animate Dead/Living Death)
  • Big Card Advantage Engines (Jin-Gitaxias/Consecrated Sphinx/Nezahal)
  • Big Mill Engines(Doom Whisperer/Altar of Dementia/Mesmeric Orb)
  • Recursion (Reap/Eternal Witness)
  • Tutors

Late Game: Start executing a game-winning combo. The easiest (and flashiest) is probably Doomsday with Sidisi on board, followed by Hulk Consultation and Buried Alive piles. If you can get Razaketh, you should, to be able to tutor either for interaction (Swan Song/Stifle) or a new wincon althogether.

Desirable cards:

  • A 2 card wincon (Doomsday + Sidisi / Protean Hulk + Reanimation / Buried Alive + Reanimation)
  • One or more lines to pivot to (in case the first wincon doesn't go through)
  • Razaketh (to fetch interaction/a new wincon)

1. Doomsday Pile (With Sidisi Milling Once + One Other Creature)

Requirements:

  • Doomsday
  • Sidisi on the battlefield and able to mill once AND at least one other creature on board
  • available in your manapool (for Doomsday)

The Pile:

Thassa's Oracle - Dread Return - Any Card - Any Card - Any Card

NOTE: Demonic Consultation is a backup in case Sidisi gets removed before getting to attack, however you need to draw two cards to do a Consultation combo with that.

NOTE: You can include Narcomoeba in your list and mill that as well to have the combo require no other creatures other than Sidisi.

Setup:

  1. Doomsday for the pile
  2. Mill once with Sidisi
  3. You get a creature for milling Thassa's Oracle
  4. Flashback Dread Return, by sacrificing Sidisi, the zombie, and a third creature, targeting Thassa's Oracle

Fallbacks:

  • If a piece gets exiled: Use Riftsweeper/Memory's Journey to shuffle it back first

2. Intuition Pile (Into Doomsday Pile)

Requirements:

  • Intuition
  • The setup for the Doomsday pile (Sidisi on the battlefield and able to mill once AND at least one other creature on board)
  • available in your manapool ( for Intuition, to be able to cast either Reanimate or Snapcaster Mage, for Doomsday)

The Pile:

Doomsday - Reanimate (or other 2CMC reanimation) - Snapcaster Mage

Setup:

  1. Intuition for the pile
  2. If you are given Doomsday: Cast it for a Doomsday Pile
  3. If you are given the Reanimation spell: Reanimate Snapcaster mage, targeting Doomsday
  4. If you are given Snapcaster Mage: Cast it, targeting Doomsday, then cast it for a Doomsday Pile
  5. ITransition into a Doomsday pile

3. Buried Alive Pile (TODO: Rework - Demonic Consultation is no longer in)

Requirements:

  • Buried Alive
  • A Reanimation spell in hand
  • + ((Cost of the Reanimation spell)) available in your manapool

NOTE: If you run Hulk, you can also pile Rune-Scarred Demon, Protean Hulk and Razaketh first and fall back on the Hulk consultation combo afterwards, or pivot to another wincon if that is not available

Setup:

  1. Buried Alive for Rune-Scarred Demon, Spellseeker and Thassa's Oracle
  2. Reanimate Rune-Scarred Demon
  3. Cast Victimize to reanimate Spellseeker and Thassa's Oracle
  4. Stack the Spellseeker trigger above the Oracle trigger
  5. Fetch Demonic Consultation with the Spellseeker trigger and hold priority
  6. Cast Demonic Consultation before the Oracle trigger resolves to exile your library
  7. Let the Oracle trigger resolve

Fallbacks:

  • If Demonic Consultation is in the graveyard: Fetch Snapcaster Mage/Eternal Witness/Skullwinder instead of Spellseeker
  • If only Thassa's Oracle is in the graveyard: Fetch Eternal Witness/Skullwinder instead to get it back and hardcast it ( total, sorcery speed only) (You can substitue a Snapcaster Mage + a Reanimation spell in the graveyard)
  • If only Spellseeker is in the graveyard: -
  • If both Thassa's Oracle and Spellseeker are in the graveyard: Fetch Eternal Witness and Skullwinder instead to get them back and hardcast them ( total, sorcery speed only) (You can substitue a Snapcaster Mage + a Reanimation spell in the graveyard)

4. Hulk Consultation Combo (Currently excluded)

NOTE: It is highly recommended to get a sac outlet (Altar of Dementia) out before you get Protean Hulk into play (or reanimate with Necromancy), so that you can crack it yourself, possibly at sorcery speed, if you need to recur a piece during it with Eternal Witness/Skullwinder

Requirements:

  • Getting a Hulk death trigger
  • available in your manapool

Setup:

  1. Fetch Spellseeker and Thassa's Oracle
  2. Stack the Spellseeker trigger above the Oracle trigger
  3. Fetch Demonic Consultation with the Spellseeker trigger and hold priority
  4. Cast Demonic Consultation before the Oracle trigger resolves to exile your library

5. Altar of Dementia Combo

NOTE: This combo is not deterministic (at least in the beginning), and can fizzle!

Requirements:

  • Sidisi on board
  • Altar of Dementia
  • Extractor Demon (Unearth for )

Setup:

  1. Use Altar of Dementia on a Zombie token / other creatue to mill yourself
  2. Altar will mill you, possibly getting you a Zombie token
  3. Extractor Demon / Selhoff Occultist will mill you, possibly getting you a Zombie token
  4. You can repeat steps 1-3 as long as you're getting Zombie tokens and/or have other creatures to restart it, if you whiff
  5. Dread Return for Thassa's Oracle

6. Mesmeric Orb Combo (Currently excluded)

Requirements:

  • Sidisi on board
  • Mesmeric Orb
  • Aphetto Alchemist / Seeker of Sykbreak

Setup:

  1. Use Aphetto Alchemist / Seeker of Sykbreak on itself
  2. Mesmeric Orb will trigger, milling the top card of your library
  3. If it was a creature card, you'll get a zombie token
  4. Repeat steps 1-3, until you've milled yourself out
  5. Dread Return for Thassa's Oracle
