7/26/15 Standard Tournament 3-0! 1st Place

Big Matches Today: Match 1, Vs Abzan Megamorph 2-0 Win

My opponent couldn't keep up, I curved out and just steam rolled game 1 due to his mana screw. G2, I draw the nuts and land Obelisk T3, and proceed to beat him down with a dashing 5/4!!!!! Heelcutter with Piledrivers on board. Game was over quick

Match 2: Vs U/B Control 2-1 Win

My opponent is a former GP winner and an extremely good control player. Having played Control a lot this standard season I had a good idea of how to sequence my drops and bait out his removal. G1 was won off the back of a 1/1 Glory Chaser that manages to slip by his removal. G2 I stall on lands and he doesn't. Game ends when he lands Silumgar the Drifting Death. (NOTE: Side out Oblelisk here, just pop their ears with pressure). G3: I Curve out and just keep hitting gas. I exhaust his counters and removal and go wide (I had enough in my hand to set another baord state up after Drown, KEYS keep your threats in hand and put 3-4 threats on board. Force tap outs). Tough match up, obelisk isn't where you want to be here.

Match 3: Vs Abzan Control 2-1 Win

Obelisk beats them, and due to them not having that many answers to Obelisk at the moment, this card is why goblins can get there. G1: I land Obelisk, survive Languish, and reset up the board. I Dash in with Heelcutter and get in for 10 exactly, he was digging for answers. I caught him off with his shields down. G2, he sides in Clerics and I keep a VERY bad hand. Tons of burn no action, but I thought I had enough time to draw into threats. Nope, I bricked, lesson learned. G3: Deck survives Languish (Thank you Obelisk) and I top deck 2 Rabblemasters in a row. When you draw the nuts well...you draw the nuts

7-1 in 2 days so far. There are some draws where the damage escalates stupidly fast. Piledriver unanswers with 2 other goblins on board = huge threat. Heelcutter can steal games, and Obelisk is nuts with Goblins. Additions I'd make: +2 Exquisite Firecraft, but I haven't decided on the cuts yet.

Notes: Obelisk is back breaking for most decks, it helps dodge Drown in Sorrow and can help buffer Languish.

7/25/15, 2nd place out of 12. 3 wins - 1 Loss

Match 1:Vs Mirror, 0-2 Loss

I didn't draw well at all, and had to mull both games. He drew very well and had a little more spot removal that I did. His deck was set-up to combat the mirror better. Some thoughts: Arc Lightning could be very good in the mirror.

Match 2: Vs Impact Tremors/ Dash, 2-0 Win

My deck was too fast, and got wide before he could go off. Because this deck doesn't put that much on the board I was able to get in quickly with little resistance. Obelisk came down both games and sealed the deal really fast.

Match 3: Vs U/R Thopter Aggro, 2-1 Win

I had lost to this deck early in testing but once I got the SB worked out this match-up got better. Won off the back of Goblin Heelcutter and a Titan's Strength. Issues, I had to Mull to 6, two out of three games here. Sometimes you just draw poorly, however being able to comeback and win against 5/5 Ensouled Thopter with Ordeals on it felt really good.

Match 4: G/B/U Megamorph 2-0 Win

The deck went off, he stumbled on lands for 1 turn and that sealed it both games. Frenzied Goblin made his blockers irrelevant. Searing Blood helped clear the way and swing for 16 turn 4. The deck bounced back from a Languish, and still stacked the board backed up enough to get through Deathmist Raptors.

The deck still needs SB work, I took out the swiftspears and put the Glory Chasers back in. I don't regret it at all, a renoun 2/2 goblin that can become a 4/4 Menace crtitter can chip away life really quickly.
