Maybeboard

I overlooked how effective the constellation mechanic could be back when Journey to Nyx came out, even after flashing in an enchantment to weaken my Doomwake Giant's blockers allowed me to win a few games during the midnight release. I've also always wanted to do something with the graveyard, and the rise of whip decks gave me an archetype to work from.

See the Unwritten - Can drop some major bombs, and fills up your graveyard with everything else. Imagine getting two Hornet Queen in the same cast. Even two Eidolon of Blossoms can quickly refill your hand.

Doomwake Giant + See the Unwritten - With one of these giants in play, the sorcery becomes a potential board wipe for your opponent if you can trigger the constellation ability twice (and with 16 enchantment creatures you have a high likelihood of doing just that!)

Pharika, God of Affliction + See the Unwritten - StU drops the remaining 6-7 cards into your graveyard. Bypass that late-game ramp and give yourself some 1/1 deathtouch blockers to keep your opponent at bay.

Whip of Erebos - Giving your giants lifelink makes you very difficult to deal with. Bringing your giants back from the graveyard adds an extra threat! Bring back any enchantment creature to trigger constellation from the giants or Eidolon of Blossoms.

Hornet Queen + Whip of Erebos - Bring the queen back for less than her original casting cost and keep her bee army for free!

Nyx Weaver + Whip of Erebos - Passed up on the spider from an earlier See the Unwritten or Commune with the Gods? Whip him back and use his exile ability to grab that same copy of StU for another shot at glory! Or missed the whip from an earlier StU? Exile the weaver to get that whip back into play!

Went 1-2 for the night.

First round was against some Mardu homebrew. Heavy fliers in the form of Master of the Feast, Butcher of the Horde, etc. Didn't get to see too much of the deck. I foolishly boarded in creature removal instead of swapping my Doomwake Giants for Arbor Colossus to take care of the fliers. A quick 0-2 loss.

Second round was more interesting. Ran against a pretty standard Temur deck. Won the first round with basically the perfect ramp into heavy hitters. Post-board he seemed to grab more counterspells and won, since I couldn't make my ramp quite as well. Third game went to time, with me keeping him at bay with some of Pharika, God of Affliction's snakes and eventually a Hornet Queen to manage his Ashcloud Phoenix. I maintained a favorable board poisition, even though my See the Unwritten only got an Eidolon of Blossoms and a Courser of Kruphix. Eventually I got a second queen in play and with Pharika active, kept whittling away his blockers until I could bum rush him before he could re-activate his Ashcloud Phoenix enough times to take me down.

Third round I should have just walked away from. I don't know if there's an archetype for this deck, but it's basically nothing but counterspells, creature removal, Dig Through Time/Jace's Ingenuity/Treasure Cruise, Perilous Vault, and a single Pearl Lake Ancient. Really, my only hope against this deck type is that he doesn't get enough land to hit me with two counterspells in a single turn. I boarded in Stain the Mind, Thoughtseize, and Reclamation Sage, along with my Arbor Colossus (since the giant's constellation isn't useful in a deck with no creatures). My only real hope against this deck is to get a Stain the Mind past his defenses and snatch up his Pearl Lake Ancient, or hope that I can pull enough creature removal to keep his ancient in his hand for a few turns. If I see this deck again, though, I'm probably just gonna walk away. It's no fun to play against decks like that.
