This deck is positioned really well in the current meta
the Fog effects x8 are really solid with any sort of creature based strategy, literally buying you a turn is an insane advantage. (Ethereal Haze & Holy Day)
Kami of lost hope is also a fog effect.
the Leyline of Sanctity mainboarded is so we get the easy game one against burn, which is a huge part of my meta
Myth Realized
is my favorite wincon, it + Luminarch Ascension are incredible beaters after a Day of Judgment.
matchups:
abzan- not great, but not bad, it really depends on how you draw and if they have Thoughtseize to take you out. With a leyline in play its really hard for them, you can just blank them for a while
tron- worst matchup, they can gain too much life for us to come back, and their disruption is just so strong.
burn- amazing matchup, leylines mb are the primary reason, but also they can run out of gas before you lose if you take out their creatures. always take out Luminarch Ascension for the creatures you board.
twin- best matchup if it's the tempo UR version, their combo just doesn't mean they win in most cases. Holy Day gives you a turn to Day of Judgment or Path to Exile, and usually they don't deal damage early, so Luminarch Ascension can get close to activating.
affinity- very 50/50 because it depends on the draw, if they just top deck into a bunch of gassy threats like Arcbound Ravager and Cranial Plating then it's impossible to win, but usually a key spot removal will do it. Luminarch Ascension will basically never get to 4 counters.
infect- way better than i'd thought. when they pump, you fog, and they never cause you to lose life so getting angels is easy.
these are the decks me and my friends have and have tested. we really think this deck can compete in the current meta as a tier 1.5-1 deck. If you don't like the deck and disagree with me, that's fine, I'm not a great player but this list has really been working for me.
I know it sucks to playtest it, so I'll post results if anyone gets interested.
