Artifact ramp, extra combat phase cards, Eldrazi, and other high costed spells. One of the best ways to use Etali is to use rituals so that you can power him out before opponents can get a defense out, Geosurge is a good and rarely used ritual. Giving him haste is also extremely important, because you can also almost always expect someone to kill him before it gets back around to your turn. Effects like Fervor, Anger, Urabrask the Hidden, and Hammer of Purphoros. By focusing on anthem-type effects for haste, youll be able to use any creatures you get off the Etali trigger in extra combat phases. Fireball cards are actually not great here, they dont work with Etali. Neheb, the Eternal is a really good card with Etali, allowing you to use the additional postcombat main phases given by Aggravated Assault to have infinite combats with the Neheb mana (which increases with each extra combat).
