My take on a Bant midrange deck with Hero of Precinct One . We play strong multi-colored spells that combine control elements with building our board.

Game Plan:

To survive the early game we run a lot of removal and disruption, acting like a janky control deck while providing a steady stream of blockers to thwart aggro. Deputy of Detention is king and removes anything we need to get rid of, ideally in multiples, and Frilled Mystic doubles as a decent body and a couterspell that can't be negated. We can complement this with the Incongruity part of Incubation / Incongruity in a pinch if we need more removal. We run further copies of Deputy in Replicate from Repudiate / Replicate , which also can give us more Heros. (Repudiate also has its uses in fringe cases such as countering planeswalker ultimates or Frilled Mystics and Rakdos among others, but we prefer using the cards for copying our power cards).

We run Incubation and Flower from Flower / Flourish to grab key creatures and lands, Flower in particular serves as good insurance as it makes many two-land hands keepable, Hydroid Krasis to draw bigger, and Sphinx's Insight to draw at instant speed wfter holding or bluffing a counter. Krasis also gain us some life and provide a flyer.

Once we reach the mid to late game we usually find time to breathe and start truly developing our position by going crazy wide off of Hero, March of the Multitudes , Dovin and Trostani Discordant . Trostani then works alongside Flourish to pump our team to overwhelming size. Frilled Mystic is key to work around wrath effects.

All this if we don't just push into a really early board and Trostani or Loxodon to stomp anything by turn 5 that is.

Side Board:

Negate and Disdainful Stroke are for control and fog match-ups, or for when Frilled Mystic is likely to be stumped by Essence Capture.

Settle the Wreckage and Cleansing Nova are for mono-blue and aggro in general.

Ixalan's Binding is for drakes or other decks relying on key cards.

Dovin, Grand Arbiter is for match-ups where fliers are key, or for when we run into crazy stalled games and need a draw engine.

Biogenic Ooze is for when we are up against something that can't keep up with it.
