First off this deck doesn't need to be so expensive, I just happen to have pulled an Expedition Ancient Tomb , also I did buy a Force of Will and a Mana Drain but they can be replaced with Counterspell and Foil .

Control: One way (and my personal favorite) is discard, Nicol Bolas himself is the best way to do this because unlike Windfall and the other wheel effects your opponents won't have a hand. But keep in mind even though Magus of the Wheel draws everyone cards you may just be getting rid of that Aetherflux Reservoir that you just Capsize d. Also if you Jace's Archivist with a Notion Thief in play you will force your opponents to discard and then draw nothing at all. Another way the deck controls is pretty straight forward it runs a set of pretty good and in flavour counterspells, spot removal, and boardwipes.

Card Synergies: Anything that bounces a permanent ( Cyclonic Rift , Capsize , Mystic Confluence ) and then a discard effect ( Dragon Mage , Nicol Bolas , Torment of Hailfire , Dark Intimations , ect..), this combo is great for removing all sorts of threats or annoying answers your opponents have.

The Locust God combined with any wheel effect and especially when combined with a Notion Thief can straight up win the game with a horrid swarm of locusts. The Scarab God also goes well with wheels but maybe not so much with a Notion Thief in play since you want to fill your opponents graveyards and reanimate their best creatures, which will also be exiled so they can no longer have access to the good creatures in their graveyard.

Another card that goes good with wheels is Archfiend of Ifnir which turns all your wheels into an amazing one-sided boardwipe.

Waste Not goes good with wheels (huh its almost like this is kinda a wheel deck...) you might notice that I don't also have a Megrim and Liliana's Caress . I took them out cause people already don't like discarding but they hate taking the damage even more (at least in my play group) and I often can politic a Dragon Mage through a flier because my opponent thinks they will draw better than me (they probably won't).

Dragon Tempest is great since it allows Nicol Bolas to strip someones hand when he ETB's and then gives him haste so he can strip someone else's hand. And a lot of the better creatures in the deck have flying( Dragon Mage , Archfiend of Ifnir , The Locust God , ect...) so they gain haste as well.

Win Con's(more like ways to kill a player): The Locust God combined with multiple wheels chained together especially with Notion Thief .

Nicol Bolas, the Arisen while it wont outright win you the game you can take the most threatening player out of the game with his ult.

Torment of Hailfire for a lot of mana... what more can I say?

Commander damage with Nicol Bolas is a great way to take a player out in three turns.

The Scarab God can drain opponents as long as you are taking advantage of the creatures you force them to discard.

Expropriate technically not an out-rite win con but if you resolve this in a game of four you should end up winning with the extra turn(s) or at least out value the rest of the table.

Just general combat damage.
