Commander / EDH

Welcome! this is my take on Avacyn, Angel of Hope. If you enjoy, an upvote or comment would be appreciated.

Plan: Avacyn + worldslayer is our go to win condition, allowing us to destroy all permanents that are not ours. This is admittedly slow, but the deck facilitates this with a mixture of ramp, hate cards, pillow forts, and a metric ****-ton of sweepers. Alternate win conditions include commander damage, Elspeth sun's champion, martial coup, luminarch ascension, decree of justice, etc. The main game plan is to establish our mana with lands, land finders, and artifacts, and keep board control using sweepers, hate cards, and pillow fort cards. Piloting this deck in a pod is tricky, if you simply sweep every game, you will be targeted immediately, so you need to be political if you aren't protected by your pillowfort cards. This deck is not accepted by most players, and you will be high if not number 1 on their hit list. Piloting this deck in a 1v1, on the other hand, is pretty straight forward, just kill everything until avacyn drops, go for worldslayer, attack, profit. Our main counter is, well, counterspells, along with exile removal that make short work of avacyn. Thus, cards like grand abolisher and silence are crucial to stop pesky blue players from making our life hell. To deal with exile removal, we play mother of runes, lightning greaves, and other protection cards to stop common cards like path, swords, utter end, reality shift, etc. Teferi’s protection is our only real counter to toxic deluge and merciless eviction, probably the main cards that destroy us. Bounce is also a huge counter to avacyn, so making her untargetable is essential. No matter your opponent, your main goal is to establish board control. This is done with protection cards like ghostly prison and windborn muse, and of course, sweepers. We play a lot of sweepers, which is the main reason to play this deck, as well as the main reason people haaate this deck. All your favorite creature sweepers are here, including wrath of god, day of judgement, planar cleansing, etc. With avacyn out, however, cards like nev disk and magus of the disk become repeatable sweepers that opponents without answers will likely simply scoop to. However, and i cannot stress this enough, DO NOT just spam these whenever you can if you play in pods. If you do, you will create a bias that you will never be able to erase, and every pod you line up for will be archenemy. Instead, use them politically, hold onto them until someone hits you, make them the reason NOT to attack you rather than a reason to absolutely kill you first every game. After control is achieved, it’s time to play our girl. Her cost is a steep 8 mana, so we use ramp to get her out fast. Things like Mana crypt, mana vault, sol ring, thran dynamo and the likes are what we’re looking for, since we are mono colored and will always have the three white symbols in her cost, efficient colorless makers are what we’re after. These also let us play big spells like martial coup and entreat the angels, and allow us to utilize great mana syncs like luminarch ascension.

Overall, she is a fun (for you, not for anyone else) commander with a straightforward plan and a relatively cheap cost for the deck. She’s great for semi competitive pods that don't have combos going off on turn 3-4, and that just generally don't use infinite combos. I hope you enjoy playing this deck.
