With Theros coming out soon, my LGS will be starting to run pioneer fnm events. I have never been one to run hyper meta netdecks but at the same time I want my deck to hold its own.The main theme of the deck is to mill the opponent out ASAP with the powerhouse that is
Sphinx's Tutelage
, with
Chandra, Flamecaller
acting as both an alternative win-con, as well as her 0 ability synergising well with tutelage. (Vantress gargoyle is in a similar boat as an early-game drop/ wincon)
Ashiok can be a non-bo with both
Into the Story
and
Vantress Gargoyle
, but is a necessary evil to deal with any graveyard shenanigans that may come up. For that reason I only run 2 in the mainboard, but have the rest of the playset sat in the sideboard.
The Royal Scions
are in there as both a draw engine, as well as to help vantress gargoyle close out games if necessary. The ult is something I don't expect to reach often but is very very strong with tutelage
If I get low on life,
Crypt Incursion
functions as a quick life buffer that also works as light graveyard hate. I have yet to need it, but I am very happy to have it as a safety measure.
Ritual of Soot
and
Languish
are last resort board-wipes, as games won't always go to plan.
Drown in the Loch
is perfect for when I need removal, but I don't want to wipe the board. It also functions as a powerful counterspell with a minor requirement (as this is a mill deck XD )
