Sideboard

ORIGIN/HISTORY:

This is a red/black aggro deck built around the madness mechanic with a vampire sub-theme. When Kaladesh came out, this is (almost) what my old vampire deck (Vampire Aggro) developed into. Honestly, the deck ran AMAZINGLY when it still could run the Smuggler's Copter (RIP). I really enjoyed being able to madness a card for the "low" additional cost of drawing a card first. When Smuggler's Copter got banned, I replaced it with Key to the City and Skeleton Key , because I still needed the repeatable loot effect and these were the best two options. Skeleton Key is nice that the effect is free (after the equip cost). Drawing will cost you 2 mana with Key to the City , but the ability to make something unblockable and trigger madness at instant speed can be really useful.

EDIT: I redid the deck back to its original Smuggler's Copter configuration.

MAIN BOARD:

Falkenrath Gorger is a 2/1 for that allows us to cast almost all of our creatures with madness. Great card!

Stromkirk Condemned is one of the 12 (3 playsets) cards that freely enable madness for us at instant speed. The fact that he buffs our entire team will doing so is a nice bonus.

Heir of Falkenrath   is another one of our free instant speed madness enablers that becomes a great 3/2 flier for 2 mana.

Bloodhall Priest has a built in madness cost that allows you play this 4/4 for a mere 3 mana. The deck burns through its hands rather quickly, meaning it's ability to throw shocks left and right isn't too difficult to enable.

Olivia's Bloodsworn is possibly the least useful card in the deck, but it is 2 power in the air for 2 mana and can give any of our creatures (that don't already have it) haste for .

Bomat Courier may not be a vampire, but it is a nicely hasted 1-drop. One of the problems this deck can run into is that it will play out its hand too quickly. There aren't a lot of overpowered spells in the deck, just a large number of cheap efficient spells. Bomat Courier 's ability allows us to slowly build a second hand to use once we empty our first. Interestingly, activating Bomat Courier 's ability discards your hand as part of the cost. This means if you madness in a Bloodhall Priest with Bomat Courier 's ability, the Bloodhall Priest will enter with the Bomat Courier 's ability (giving you a new hand) still on the stack. As such, you will be hellbent and get the Bloodhall Priest 's ETB shock effect.

Alms of the Vein is included simply to kill the opponent faster. With madness, to deal 3 damage to our opponent is a price we are definitely willing to pay main deck. Gaining 3 life is a nice bonus. However, the fact that Alms of the Vein can't target creatures and its loss of life can't be redirected to planeswalkers does make it one of the first cards to be cut during sideboard.

Fiery Temper is a lightning bolt when cast off madness. What more do you want?

Lightning Axe is a spell that only costs and kills most creatures while enabling madness. There have been many occassions where I have cast a Lightning Axe into a Fiery Temper to clear my opponents board before swinging in.

Smuggler's Copter Is by far one of the best cards in the deck. It is a form of card draw and a madness enabler as well as a damage dealer that has evasion. It simply does everything. Also, this was a point where artifact removal was hard to come by in standard. One of the only ways to kill it was either combat or instant speed creature removal that was now not being pointed at our actual creatures.
This is fairly self explanatory. Smoldering Marsh and Foreboding Ruins help to fix our colors. We are only running 21 lands since our curve tops out at 3 and have 4 loot effects that may draw us extra cards.

SIDEBOARD:

Unlicensed Disintegration is included since some creature don't die to Lightning Axe .

Lost Legacy is here to preemptively disrupt combo decks and deal with problem cards like Ishkanah, Grafwidow . (I HATE this spider. 1 card generates 4 blockers.)

Release the Gremlins is simply the best artifact removal in these colors.

Ruinous Path is targeted planeswalker removal.

To the Slaughter is another way to remove planeswalkers, but it also provides a possible way to deal with hexproof or indestructible.

Collective Brutality is a nice modular spell, but I can see it being replaced if there is something else the deck needs answers to.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated
