Discussion Reset and PAX East 2016 —April 30, 2016

Almost 2 years and 148 comments later, I've finally gotten around to resetting the discussion area. The deck description will be updated soon to accommodate all the changes I've made. I'm actually currently working on a primer, so keep an eye out for that in the near future!

PAX East 2016 has come and gone, and it sure was a lot of fun. The Magic scene wasn't as impressive as last years, probably because Wizards had no panels scheduled this year. It was great sitting down and playing Commander in the tabletop area and seeing new faces react to my deck, Titania being a commander they've never played against before. I also bought some new foils: Cavern of Soulsfoil, Command Beaconfoil, and Ancient Tombfoil. Just a few cards to go until the deck is completely foiled!

I'd recommend running Buried Ruin in your deck - it makes sure you can get Crucible of Worlds from the graveyard (I know you have Eternal Witness, but redundancy is good). Plus it can trigger your general's ability, which is nice.

Greater Good is sooooo good. free card draw for a combo deck is always necessary.

Why Living Plane? It seems to not fit other than as boardwipe protection. I normally use Kamahl, Fist of Krosa for that

Also you should consider adding in some protection for Titania, Protector of Argoth. Your deck is built around her, so cards like Lightning Greaves or Champion's Helm could be useful.

I was running Ambush Commander until I learned about living plane. Since all lands come in as creatures that means they also have summoning sickness and can't be tapped for mana the turn they come into play. And yes, it also serves as board wipe protection (I don't really want to lose my army of tokens once I amass them). I'm not entirely sure if I like Kamahl since you have to pump him for each use. Although, I suppose in response to a board wipe I can make all my opponents lands into creatures... I'll have to think about it.

And yeah I've been thinking about what to cut to make room for protection for Titania. Right now all I have is Fortitude.

This deck is really cool and a lot of fun, but it has no protection from flying! Angels and other flying heavy decks might be a problem. A Windstorm would work pretty well here!

Yeah I've been thinking about adding in both Windstorm and Hurricane. Thanks!

Consider adding in Constant Mists, it's really on theme an is a great way to delay your opponents. I would remove Garruk Wildspeaker since you don't really need his ramp or tokens.

I've found Garruk Wildspeaker's +1 ability to be very useful, and his -4 has been a game winner for me several times. Constant Mists is a card I've already been considering though, if you look in the Maybeboard.

I love it. Maybe try Primeval Bounty. I ran it for a surrak deck and it's kinda great all around in green.

If you want to be a real douchebag, you could play Mycosynth Lattice with Titania's Song. If you have your commander out, boom. Armageddon meets Life and Limb.

I prefer Corrosive Gale to Windstorm since it can still help you if your being lock down by something like Mishra's Helix. Great deck pal!

CastleSiege says... #13

Wow, Corrosive Gale is way better. Thanks for that! :)

Also just noticed it's a sorcery. Ugh :(

Joumba says... #15

This depend on your playgroup, but in the sorcery speed isn't much of a hinder usually. The is especially good against land lock down decks of course, but can still pack a mean surprise even a s a sorcery.

i would recomend running Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx it can ramp like hell in mono color

I removed Nykthos in favor of Gaea's Cradle since usually I don't have enough devotion out to make Nykthos worth it.

For handlign flying I really like Arashi, the Sky Asunder. As creature its nice and when you play it as spell it's also nice.

Never played EDH, so take the suggestions with a grain of salt, but with all this ramp and landfall, i'm wondering why Primeval Titan isn't here. Also, I like Hurricane over Corrosive Gale just because no one is ever expecting to be burned to death by mono green, and it also works awesome for multiplayer games.

Good ol' Prime Time isn't here because sadly he's banned in EDH (for good reason lol). I've considered both Hurricane and Corrosive Gale but decided against them because of their sorcery speed (fairly important in my meta). Now I'm considering things like Raking Canopy and Spidersilk Armor. Thanks for your thoughts though :)

If you need help against flyers, you could add Gravity Well. It takes down your flyers, but green isn't really known for flying creatures.

Gravity Well seems awesome :D Thanks!

No Thrun, the Last Troll? I'd put him in every mono green edh deck if I could! I even used him as a commander!

April 27, 2015 6:29 a.m.

CastleSiege says... #25

I mean, he's good... But he doesn't really do anything for the deck as a whole :(
