White spirit tribal. On the cheap. It ain't easy.

I love the style of Oyobi, Who Split the Heavens: the picture, the flavour text, everything. Unfortunately - like the white spirit and arcane spells that are supposed to complement her - Oyobi is a bit underpowered, to say the least. But, 3/3 flying creatures are not to be sniffed at. So the idea of this deck is to (yes you guessed it) get out a bunch of spirits and just hit people until they die, or use them to block while Oyobi gets the job done (slowly). The underlying strategy is that because the deck throws up decent defenses and is not very dangerous, you will last until late enough in the game to swoop for the win at the last minute.

There is some potential for re-use, if not exactly abuse, of your spirit triggers. With a Karmic Guide in hand, a Stonecloaker can become an endlessly resurrectable chump who ruins graveyards and produces spirits by returning to play. The Stormfront Riders are even more useful, since they give you an inexhaustible (if expensive) supply of soldiers and spirits in combination with any spirit card (Pearl Medallion and Caged Sun turn this into a genuinely deadly play). The pick of the bunch is the Dust Elemental, which can be awkward due to the requirement to bounce three creatures, but is amazing for evading the inevitable wipes at instant speed. All these cards allow you to get a little more out of your big hitters, like the Sunblast Angel and Luminate Primordial.

Given the cost of Oyobi and her obvious centrality to the strategy, there are a few things in there, like the Whispersilk Cloak. to protect her, alongside a couple of one-off effects like Otherworldly Journey and Blessed Breath. There are also a couple of effects, like the Eidolon of Countless Battles and Charge Across the Araba, to give her a sudden power-up that can hurt an unwary opponent. Shining Shoal can turn a loss into a win if you use it right.

Oyobi is a margins game, rather than a harsh combo game, so you need to go in on those types aggressively. Try to make sure all your opponents are worn down to kill range because healthy-to-dead in one turn is not gonna happen. There are a couple of cards to restrain opponents who try to go out of control, like Spirit of the Labyrinth and Hokori, Dust Drinker (a gamewinner in the right circumstances). In classic white style, you must champion the weak and honest against the strong and sneaky. Until you get them alone, at which point obviously you murder them.
