Disclaimer: I have tested this deck with success the past 10 days or so, but I do not know how will it fare against the meta after the unbanning of
Jace, the Mind Sculptor
and
Bloodbraid Elf
. By the way, I proceeded immediately to include some of my copies of the former in the sideboard.
Creatures
Snapcaster Mage
is the card that allows the deck to exist and survive the first turns of the game.
Torrential Gearhulk
act as additional copies of Snapcaster Mage, other than providing a big threat.
Other Spells
Remand
limits the loss of tempo and helps you find enough lands.
Cryptic Command
is arguably the hardest control spell in the deck, as all of its effects advance our gameplan.
Terminate
dispatches almost any creature that you deem as a problem.
Forked Bolt
and
Electrolyze
both clear the board of small threats
Thoughtseize
in the opening hand not only lets you get rid of a problematic card, but also lets you guess your opponent’s gameplan.
Liliana, the Last Hope
is, more often than not, your actual finisher, and gives you an easier access to your graveyard, too.
Kolaghan's Command
can recover
Snapcaster Mage
when the latter is removed, and is overall a really versatile card.
Silumgar's Command
is exceptional in grindy games, since it is really effective against many kinds of permanents.
Sideboard
The side deck is currently under development, but I already tested some cards.
Night of Souls' Betrayal
is wonderful against Humans and Mardu Pyromancer.
Rending Volley
impressed me against any kind of Tempo deck.
Jace, the Mind Sculptor
is a sideboard card because the main board seems pretty stacked to me. Nonetheless, he is a powerful tool in any grindy matchup.
