Sideboard

Hello, and welcome to my custom brew for modern.

To start things off, lets talk about the title, 14Blade. It is based off of names for popular decks such as 12Post, 8Rack/Whack, etc., and the Blade part comes from the card Slither Blade, one of the key cards in the deck. 14Blade is a deck that utilizes cheap unblockable creatures to take advantage of all the juicy "combat damage to player" effects, which will allow us gain massive card advantage as well as establish a fast clock that cannot be answered with blockers.

The 14 "Blade" creatures are Triton Shorestalker, Tormented Soul, Gudul Lurker and the Naga himself, Slither Blade. Another unblockable creature I have is Invisible Stalker.

Now that you have these unblockable creatures, what can you do with them? You could cast Driven of Driven / Despair and draw a whole bunch of cards, and then aftermath it to Wit's End your opponent. They will surely be driven to despair when you laugh at their empty hand while you have 7 cards in yours >:). You can also slam a Bident of Thassa, and if it sticks, you'll drown in card advantage! Another version of this effect is Warriors' Lesson , which gives you an extra copy of this effect on the cheap, while also stacking with other draw triggers. In addition, we have Ninja of the Deep Hours, which is really good in our deck. It can almost always be ninjitsu'd on turn 2 and draws cards.

However, if you're looking to close out the game, you'll need to give your measly 1/1s a bit more "oomph". Luckily, there are some cards just for that. Of course, you could just Despair (Driven / Despair) your opponent of the game and chip them down, but that's boring (actually it's pretty fun, but that doesn't prove my point). So, we have this dude: Stinkdrinker Bandit . If you haven't already noticed, 3 out of 5 of our unblockable creatures are also Rouges, so they turn on Prowl for this guy, and then get a massive buff whenever they attack. That extra buff on over half of your unblockable team will slam the door past your opponent's blockers and right on his/her face.

This deck's removal is pretty simple, with 3 Fatal Push and 2 Go for the Throat.

Lastly, we have the sideboard. Most of the cards are pretty obvious when to use, but be aware what people bring in against you. Abrupt Decay works well against Blood Moon, for example, which can be tough on our deck. Ceremonious Rejection is not only to fight Affinity, Tron and Eldrazi, but can also be used against Ratchet Bomb and now even Flaying Tendrils. Liliana of the Veil can handle Bogles and other big threats, and can also take over control games where you struggle to keep a board. Also try to bring Negate in against all decks you think will bring in a board wipe.

And that is it for this deck! Feel free to leave suggestions. I also have a pauper version of this deck, so you can check that out too.

If you wanted, you could convert this deck into a Rogue tribal deck, enabling a lot of prowl cards. You can live the dream of chaining together Notorious Throngs in Modern.
