This started off purely as a way to play Genesis Wave and swarm my friends in casual games. But after about a month of tinkering it's become a devotion heavy Beasty deck and am thinking of taking it to the old tournament or two.

Leatherback Baloth , Kalonian Tusker, Voyaging Satyr and Elvish Mystic make for the obvious early game plays.

Silklash Spider is the go to for any flying trouble that comes my way.

Primalcrux is a heavy hitter that keeps growing and gives you mana for days with your Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx, untap and go again with Voyaging Satyr and triple the affect with Karametra's Acolyte so you can gen wave into some pretty hefty numbers.

I normally like to go for the win by a big gen wave and hope to pull Akroma's Memorial out of it and just swarm on in.

However you can't hope to pull a gen wave every game.

So Asceticism can keep your guys safe while you build up and if you don't won't to get rid of creatures and all that devotion and end up taking a beating, chuck down a Nylea's Disciple to bring that health all back.

Plus getting 3 life each turn from Bow of Nylea can be handier than you would think.

Having Asceticism coupled with Vigor can be a real headache as your creatures are now hexproof and basically indestructible.

One awesome little combo I have found with this deck is having Akroma's Memorial, Vigor and Silklash Spider on the board. You can now pay for the spiders ability to deal Damage to flyers, and with Vigor you buff all your creatures by +5+5 each turn. (Anymore than 5 will kill Vigor .)

Both planeswalkers can pump out 3/3 creatures as chump blockers or a bit of extra damage if need be. But the kicker for me is Garruk, Primal Hunter card draw ability and Garruk, Apex Predator life gain ability.

Garruk, Apex Predator destroying one of your heavily beefed up Primordial Hydra can get a large amount of life if things get scary. You can always whip him back in with Eternal Witness if you really want to do some hydra damage.

In saying that, Asceticism with a Primordial Hydra on the board is basically a ticking clock for your opponents. That hydra can get pretty scary in just a few turns

Finally with Chord of Calling I can flash in any of these creatures depending on the situation.

I can't even think of how many times flashing in a Nylea's Disciple for last minute health or Silklash Spider to damage some flyers has saved my ass.

This deck is not about going on the offensive. Just sit back and build up your creature base. There's enough life gain options to allow a beating here and there so you don't have to block unless you can take it. Eventually you'll have amassed too much for your opponent to handle and you can swing for lethal.

I don't have a very high land count in this deck. But I've found that with the Elvish Mystic, Voyaging Satyr , Karametra's Acolyte and Primeval Titan I've not yet had much of an issue.

This deck can be pretty weak against aggro or any control that can screw up your rhythm early on. It thrives in the late game but getting it all set up can take time. Any pointers for a side board to help against this would be awesome to hear.

I'm always looking to tweak and tinker and I'm still quite new to magic so there's lots of cards and combos I don't know of yet.

Let me know what you think. Would love to hear some new ideas.

Thanks for having a look.
