This deck showcases one of my favorite mechanics of all time -- cycling! It has a lot of interactive but overcosted spells and creatures that cycle for a small amount of mana. The goal is to cycle repeatedly into one of the payoff spells, like Drake Haven, Lightning Rift , Psychosis Crawler, Chasm Skulker, or Hoofprints of the Stag. There's also the oft-forgotten Vedalken AEthermage, which is not a good card except that it can wizardcycle for two of the payoff cards in the deck: Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind and Laboratory Maniac. I couldn't pass up the opportunity to play a card so bad when its ability is so synergistic.
