I had a Thopter deck that did pretty well in Standard during the Origins block and was a lot of fun (Thopters All Day). The idea was to pump out Thopters and chump block while getting out the few big hitters I had then going all-out on my opponents. Now, I've converted the deck to Commander because it was so much fun and there's so much more I could do with an artifact token deck.

Infinite Combo 1 - Infinite Tokens

This combo will net 3x 1/1 colorless Myr artifact creature tokens per iteration, and as long as an opponent can't interrupt the cycle I can iterate it as many times as I want. I could also use this to pump up Hangarback Walker

  1. Have Ashnod's Altar + Nim Deathmantle out...
  2. ...then play Myr Battlesphere to the field. Generate 4 1/1 colorless Myr artifact creature tokens.
  3. Sac Myr Battlesphere and one of the tokens generated to get out of Ashnod's Altar.
  4. Use the from the sac for Nim Deathmantle to get Myr Battlesphere back out and another set of tokens.
  5. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Infinite Combo 2 - Infinite Mana

This one requires me to add Walking Ballista to the deck. I'm seriously toying with the idea. This combo would result in another possible win-con. With this one, I can generate as much mana as I want to pump up Walking Ballista, then dump it all to deal damage to target opponent(s). Since I don't have Walking Ballista at this time, I could make this work with Whirler Rogue. It would just take more cycles. I would net per cycle, instead of , but the result remains the same.

  1. Get Ashnod's Altar + Myr Battlesphere + Nim Deathmantle out onto the field. Generate 4 1/1 colorless Myr artifact creature tokens.
  2. Sac Myr Battlesphere and all 4 of the tokens generated. Ashnod's Altar gives me .
  3. Use from the sac for Nim Deathmantle to get Myr Battlesphere back out and another set of tokens. I'm left with
  4. Wash, rinse, repeat until I have enough mana to play Walking Ballista with enough +1/+1 counters to deal fatal direct player damage to each opponent

Point of reference: If I had the combo set up and Walking Ballista ready to play, I would have to iterate the combo 40 times to deal 40 damage each to 3 opponents ((3402)=420, (420/6)=40). Using Whirler Rogue, I would need to iterate the combo 210 times ((420/2)=210). Same result, just have to make sure the combo is cycled enough to get the mana needed for the specific situation. Also, I could use the Infinite Mana combo to play Hangarback Walker to the field with any amount of mana to generate enough tokens on a sac or board wipe so I'd be left with enough 1/1 colorless Thopter artifact creature tokens to take out anyone left in the game.

Win-Cons

Another win-con comes in the form of Hellkite Tyrant. Since the vast majority of the deck is artifacts and cards that generate artifact creature tokens, I think it should be reasonably possible to have 20+ total artifacts on my field to activate the win-con.In theory, if I have Hellkite Tyrant down already and have everything needed to run the Infinite Tokens combo, I could interrupt the 2nd main phase of the turn immediately prior to my own turn. If I can get enough artifact creature tokens out during that player's turn, then I'd have what I need at the start of my own upkeep to win the game.

Suggestions

Suggestions are always appreciated. What I'd be especially interested in are any other hay-maker or infinite combos I haven't already listed. If your suggestion includes adding cards not already in the deck, please keep in mind that I would prefer to keep my deck at exactly 100 cards. Please include suggestions of what card(s) to remove to make room for the cards you're suggesting, and why.
